    Can't answer your question .

I can tell you the DVD workout/infomercials are hot .

With your resume , you could make a workout routine and maybe call it

I'm a personal trainer in Canada and been doing it for a number of years now, but i'm sure its the same the world around. Personal training is bullshit. The west coast United States is the best place but it's still bullshit.

Get out of this industry as soon as you can. You'll quickly realize why shortly after you start. I'm sorry to sound so pessimistic and discouraging right off the bat, but i'd rather save you time and tell you the truth right upfront.

Anywhere you go to do personal training, you'll always feel like a car salesman.

I feel it's best to let you know of the dirty dark side to this industry that you won't be able to see before you actually get into it. EVERY career, job, hobby, etc. comes with a dirty dark side that nobody sees because they've got some extremely passionate romantic view in their heads before they start doing it. And that's fine... so long as you're not being naive about it and you know the truth prior to engaging in your select passion.

I've been in this industry long enough (yet thankfully it's not a career choice for me) to know that it really just leads to frustration. The only way you get anywhere is by rising up to the management level. And if you're a manager, you're not even a trainer anymore. I hear trainers all the time tell me they'd love to make it career and rise up to the management position... but at that point, like I said, you're not even a trainer anymore. You're better off just getting a degree in business and becoming a manager in a small company.

Its extremely tough to make it as a freelance trainer doing it privately, and it's even worse if you work under a gym, as you are lower than a worm to them.

I just do this [less than] part time for the free gym membership and a bit of extra money that pays for gas every month. I've got bigger and better life goals i'm building. I tried doing this full-time for one year and I almost threw myself into a meat grinder to kill myself. Everyone else I know who has done this for the longest time is just as pessimistic about it as I am (some worse than me).

I did it for one year in a corporate gym and simply could not stand it, it almost discouraged me from even working out myself. Now, I keep my business cards on me and anytime anybody asks me about diet or training I hand them one. When they ask me my prices I tell them and 90% of the time they refuse to pay what I charge, fine with me. So I'll take on someone here and there for some extra $ but nothing to keep me too busy. I'm not going to be known as just the cheap guy, **** that
