My small venting session - no big deal
so I took this huge pay-cut by going from a swing manager at mcdonald's to a bartender.
I think i'm just not getting many hours because I'm still very new (three weeks) and training. But still, I'm not making any goddamn money.
I had 18 hours on this last bi-weekly paycheck. I'm making a few tips but that shit doesn't last at all
I need to deliver pizzas or something, but I hate correlating two jobs while in school (which I am)
I guess I need to talk to her and ask why I'm barely on the schedule before I just to conclusions.
But I also need to budget my money better, too
damnit.
and I also am behind on some school work
thanks.

takes time to work your way up. You were probably hired to fill in the missing shifts so you will get your turn when the senior tenders move on or take time off... part of the game but the money is there when you get your foot further in the door...
plus, you dont want the busy shifts right off the get go. Learning your way around the business side of the bar table takes time or you could cost them a lot of money
PS-maybe you smell funny

I think you're right, I think I'm here to sort of fill in the shifts that they need. But soon people will move on hopefully.
I applied at pizzahuts to deliver
ps- I smell so ****ing sexy. I wear Hugo Boss, Calvin Klein Reaction, and Aqua Di Gio

Yea that cabbage is seriously gonna have to be cut down on. like seriously. It's really the only thing besides gas and food that chews up the cash.
HOWEVER, regarding the work, I've been doing so well lately, that she put me on a saturday night 5-close shift. All the veterans were kinda pissed. It was my first closing. You don't put a noob whose never closed before on a saturday night close unless you have some serious faith. and I also made that close last night look damn good. I think she'll be putting me on more shifts soon.
fuuuckkkkkkkk

Bartending jobs always start out slow when you're new. They have to make sure you can handle it before they throw in in the deep end. Also like said above as people leave you move up the ranks. Just stick it out and you'll get through it. You had to leave mcdonalds eventually. Your ass getting ratio has to of gone up a little since leving there lol

Thanks for the responses, guys.
Yea I think you're right too, stack, I think they're testing me to see if I'll make it. I know I'm impressing them, because they told me so. the mere fact that I have a solid drive and can find shit to do when not busy is helping.
I think it'll all work out, hopefully I can find some landscaping to do (fall cleanup) until I get more shifts

Just a thought, but have u tried applying for a job bartending at a club? When I was in school I worked as a bartender at a nice italian restaurant and supplemented income with 1 or 2 nights tending at a club. You have to deal with drunk-asses all night and work late, but I used to bank ($2-300/night). I could only handle it for about a year or so, but it brought in some badly needed cash while I was in school. Good luck bro!

Honestly man, at a club all you do is open beers and pour Jäger bombs. At a restaurant people want margaritas and martinis...at a club people want shots; those are easy

Do what you need to get by like you said, another job or??? Bartender can pay good once you get the right hours and location. Make a good impression. Fill in where needed. You dont have to be a suck up to do a good job but volunteer to do whatever is needed and it will pay off.
Only reason I still have my job is????? Im not sure why.. hahaha Actually I am. I ALMOST got laid off and I got the total office space mentality. I was even watching movies at work, day shift while the boss was right here and his boss laughing my ass off at comedy shows. I had people come up to me saying DUDE!!!! they can here you, they can see you are not doing ANYTHING. I said so? I already got my pink slip and am gone in 30 days but Im doing my job still I'm just doing enough to get by, nothing extra.
One week later they came up to me and said they where able to retain me but the let people go with a LOT more seniority them me. WTF???? LOL
