His range of motion is pretty poor on a lot of exercises. Is that because he's bound by his muscles or what?

Most pros have bad form, same with amateurs and your regular joes. His reasoning for that type of ROM is beyond me, but it works for him apparently so I'd say keep it up.

You don't necessarily need perfect form to grow, as long as stimulation is there, fibers are being torn and regrown, and you aren't over training then do what you can.

I don't know what it is about the guy; I've heard nothing but good things, but I just can't stand him. His form, his style.... Just hate it. But he's a freakishly strong little dude, and I'd never say that to his face. lol

You are activating the stabilizer fibers with free weight chains (similar to DB raises) so this would be a major advantage over machine side raises.

If you are looking for strict isolation then machines would be a better option.

Chains are actually great...and I don;t have the balls to use them yet. As you lift the chains higher, the weight increases adding much more resistance. This is good because most people are explosive when starting the lift,,,,,and they use the momentum to get the weight all the way to lockout. With chains, it is nearly impossible

Interesting. I'll have to incorporate chains in my workouts.
