    Vertical Leg Press

Has anyone done much of this? I can think of a ton of reasons why it would be one of the best things to do for your quads, hamstrings, and glutes. I have never heard anyone talk about it, though.
I tried vertical leg press for the very first time today. It was my last exercise for legs, and I got up to 500lbs for 12 reps, knees all the way to my chest, and then stopping just before lockout to keep the pressure on the muscle. It felt way different in a great way.

Any thoughts about the effectiveness of this exercise?

No vertical press at my gym. Always looked dangerous to me but does look like it would work well.

it's good, but i wouldn't use it in place of standing squats.....

you dont build the stability and balance, you dont recruit as many muscles to lift the weight as the machine does the form for you.

I would never try and replace squats. I am a firm believer that the squat is king. I just like to hit the muscles different, or use a variety of exercises to put more or less stress on certain muscles, and this definitely felt different.
