    Root Canal

I have to get a root canal done Friday morning. I'm curious if anyone can chime in here and explain how much this will affect my eating and for how long? How painful is this process?

    Thanks

It really depends on the person some people heal really quickly others don't. Have you had any other dental procedures to where you can gauge how well you heal up (i.e. wisdom teeth, or implants) I think this will give you a better idea. Although as I understand it once the numbness wears off you should have full use of your mouth as there is no open wounds from a root canal other than some tenderness but just chew on the other side of your mouth.

well you shouldnt feel it while there doing it and you should be on drugs after just watch the too hot and too cold foods try and get them just warm enough to stand the taste also stay away from hard stuff for at least a week

Avoid eating on the affected side until it is again comfortable, won't take long.

As soon as your done the tooth wont hurt at all or be sensitive to hot or cold. Its just the gums that will be sore it shouldnt really effect eating at all. they will give you some drugs. use them and you are good to go.

you will get a needle, they will drill the tooth open, remove the root nerve and then fill the void with composite. After that the tooth is dead and will not give you further problems unless something else arises like an abscess. Keep in mind if you dont crown the tooth it becomes brittle in just a few months and usually breaks.

I had a double root canal on my front teeth done. From what I can remember, it wasn't bad at all. I was out for half a day I think.
