Anyone know if its libido effects for men are similar for woman?
Interesting info I found about Maca http://www.drugs.com/npp/maca.html
Yes. Kawigirl it is supposed to increase libido in women also.
if you want test, just take test
The hypothalamus maintains homeostasis; this includes a regulation of test in the body.
This means that any increases in test will trigger your feed back mechanism, sending a signal to your testes (pituatary) to shut down production until stasis is achieved again.
By all means, not discouraging you from taking maca root, but don't do so based on the belief that it will improve your test levels... as they will be extremely short lived. Over a period of time, your average test levels will remain unchanged.
and since I followed your link to wiki, then I simply cut and paste an exercept:
Small-scale clinical trials performed in men have shown that maca extracts can heighten libido and improve semen quality,[20][21] A small double-blind, randomized, parallel group dose-finding pilot study has shown that Maca root may alleviate SSRI-induced sexual dysfunction.[22] Maca does not affect sex hormone levels in humans, and has not been shown to act on hormones directly. It has been presumed that maca's hormone-normalizing effects may be due to the root's unique nutritional profile, which provides optimum levels of nutrients utilized by the body's endocrine system.[23] In addition, maca has been shown to increase mating behavior in male mice and rats.[24] A recent review states "Randomized clinical trials have shown that maca has favorable effects on energy and mood, may decrease anxiety and improve sexual desire. Maca has also been shown to improve sperm production, sperm motility, and semen volume.
I think tihis speaks for itself
