They are what you train them to be. Everyone needs to get that Attack dog crap out of there head. If you train and raise your pit right you will have no problem. I love them and would never not own one.

i do realise dogs need to be trained but in ireland the majority tht own those things also own scumbag awards. i just dont trust anything bred form pits and wouldnt walk my dogs past one comfortably. they are, afterall, banned here for a reason. but its hard for authorities to pin them as true american pits because of the variations

People attack each other all the friggin time but let a couple of pits that were trained to fight get loose from their cage and attack someone and all heck goes loose. But then someone would argue that we have cages for bad people too, callled prisons. I still like the pits but again shows like cops dont help their reputation as it seems all the drug houses are protected by them.

there are much better breads out there than pits.. they are great dogs if you live alone and don't ever have company over.. and you never leave them alone for more than 4 hours inside..

I have an american bulldog/pit mix. Best dog I ever had! And the least aggressive. I rescued him from the pound. He was an underperforming fighting dog slated to be put down.
Are those Presa Canarios?

i just got a bull mastiff this past weekend. 2yrs old, close to 200lbs and the biggest pansy of a dog ive ever had. i can reach down and take his bowl away from him while hes eating and all he'll do is sit down. i love the big fella, if i could only get him to quit drooling!

Agree with me mate dec11 they are dangerous i didn't hate on them at first until they attacked a neighbors kid and scared her for life... The dog ripped ripped her bottom lip off for no reason... aren't they just wonderful animals...
Oh and the owner just said he forgot to keep the gate closed...
Also find it funny the two gay like these dogs....just don't understand why i thought you would like a poodle or something...

My cousin use to breed pits and fed me that safe bs everytime we talked about them or I was over his house.
The problem is only about 5% of pit owners know how to raise a pit and socialize it the proper way. So that still means 95% of pits
you see are capable of eating little children for breakfast.
He also use to explain to me how "special" pits were and that their personalities were the best, but out of the 100 or so pits he bred
I never met one that wasn't anything other than boring. Sure they play but I'm just use to breeds that are wayyyy more active,
wayyyy more affectionate, and have wayyy more personality. A min pin is one of my favorite breeds. I've seen/had a ton of dogs
throughout my life and they are personally my favorite.
The sad fact is though that almost anyone will tell you x breed is the best just because its the only breed they ever owned. Like
my brother thinks chocolate labs are the best. They are slow, boring, barely affectionate, and dumb as nails. THey are also filthy
food whores and commonly will eat their own shit. My brothers in particular does this every single time he goes outside. He's been
reprimanded for it his entire life and no amount of training stops him from eating it. Just a very stupid breed.
The problem with pits aside from violent tendencies is they are far too cliche a breed for low income families. I live about 10mins
from one of these neighborhoods (like a white ghetto) and almost every other yard you will see a pit outside during the summer. It
pisses me off like nothing else. Same way you see rich people attracted to papillons and king cavaliers poor people are attracted to pits.
Does that mean rich people don't own them? Course not. But overall I don't dislike the breed, I just think they are extremely overated,
too many people have them, and too many people also don't train them.
I believe the OP very much believes his are safe, and they likely are, but if I owned one you would never see it in a room with an infant
or child regardless of how trained it was. Thats because training isn't the end all to pit violence. A pit that has been socialized with children
can still have a child handle it too rough and then bye bye all that training as well as bye bye kids face.
I'm not trying to shit on the breed. I think they are cute dogs, but just too cliche. Not to mention the fact that there is a whole host of
other dogs out there capable of causing damage, rotties, dobermans, sheperds and what not. Sure pits are as badass as they come, but
I prefer my min pin. Its more affectionate than any breed I know and their fearlessness can be entertaining. We're talking about a 12lb dog
that won't even back down from my cousins pit or my brothers lab. Labs are so docile too its not uncommon for him to run in the other
direction.
Everyone has their favorite breeds though and if you love it thats all that matters. I just notice my personality in general is much more like
that of the overly hyper toy breeds.

Hey now dont hate on Labradors. We breed black, yellow/white , and chocolate labs and I absolutely love them. Labs are very common and I feel like alot of people breed ones that...shouldnt be breed. Lol the ones that eat their own poo on a regular basis for an example haha.
But no really I absolutely love labs in general. We have quite a few of all different colors and sizes ranging from a grand champion duck dog to a EX drug dog to just good family dogs. They are incredibly versatile and if your willing to put in the time to train them from the start they will be amazing dogs for you the rest of their life. Its the ones that do their own thing 24/7 without any real training that kind of bring down peoples opinion of them.
ANyways sorry about the rant on a different breed lol...if anyone needs a lab im your man haha

Oh and I can't say much about pits, because alot of people with them around here use them to guard stuff so they arent too sweet, but one of my best friends bought a female as a puppy from walmarts parking lot lol and that girl is so sweet and playful. He has 5 other dogs 4 of which are little yippy yappy dogs lol and ones a husky and they all get along perfectly. So I will agree that it really comes down to how you raise them, if you socialize your dog properly they should be good but it just seems like alot of pits have a certain tendency to be much more aggressive than most dogs and thats the problem

Yeah Morty before Admin jumps all over you. Edit the pic.
But before people continue to sh*t on pits and other bull breeds. Do a search on what are the worst dogs to have around children. YOu'll find there are more instances of Cocker Spaniels, Chihuahas, min Pins, and small breed attacks on children.
Now with that said, as an owner of two bully dogs, I do realize any dog who is initially bred for fighting or aggression needs proper training and attention when incorporating them into a family. Its just like horses or any other animal. You don't buy a race horse and expect him to be a pulling animal. But he can be trained to pull but, of course, not as well as one bred for the duty. Feel me?
As with anything, before one purchases any kind of dog, research the breed first. They are all different, mutts too, a little bit of research goes a long way to raising a well adjusted and family friendly dog.

Great dogs, I hate when they clip their ears though. I have a red nose that is great with everyone and other dogs, biggest pvssy that is scared of his own shadow. Looks tough though. Great dogs.

I love my pit man, great dogs when trained right. For some reason mine is a lazy pvssy too lol. I bought him kinda as a theft deterrent but if a car pulls in the driveway late at night the fxcker doesnt even get outa the bed. I have to drag his lazy butt outa bed every morning before I go to the gym.
