    Geore Clooney Nespresso commercial....

So what's up with that? Does he onwn a large share in the company or something like that or just super stripped for cash??

I talked to a director that was at my old workplace once. They were making a "closed-circuit" training video for gas station managers in england/southern europe/baklans..Anyways... He said that this was a sweet deal for the actors because they loose facevalue when they appear on commercials, but this being only shown to a small group of people would make them money without any name-value loss.

So that means by doing this commercial Clooney is de-valuing his asking price in films, but if he owns a share in the company I would understand him advertising for them.

    Any ideas?

People who assume that "class A" actors do commercials/endorsements because they are washed up are idiots. Your an idiot NOT to do it.
    Perfect example: Michael Jordan.

" Jordan is top-earner for the fifth time in six years. He replaces last year's top-earner boxer Mike Tyson. Jordan is estimated to earn $78.3 million ($31.3 million in salary and $47 million in endorsements.) "

Michael Jordan is a SPORTS PLAYER not an actor. Well he had a couple kid movies but htats it.

Being a sports player you can tattoo Coca-Cola on your forehead no one would care.

Being an actor you would be out of a job most probably.

The thing is you have to look at it long term, most actors steadily increase their asking rate. Make more money each film they do..

Now then if they jump on the advertising bandwagon sure they would get some nice money but their asking price will go down the drain and in the long term they kind of ruin their name for doing movies.

So I think you are a fool to do commercials when you are a bigshot actor...

I disagree. The reason actors make more money in the long run is based on two things : Getting good scripts and being a good actor.

" Nespresso also just opened big flagship stores in Sydney and Shanghai, whose tea-swilling residents might appear an even tougher sell than Americans. Don’t underestimate the smirky charm of George Clooney, Nespresso’s spokesman outside the U.S. He’s been worth every penny Nespresso has paid him — $2.4 million his first year and probably a lot more since he’s made Nespresso’s “What else?” tagline maddeningly unforgettable around the world."
