    zonealarm question

So just a few months ago my friend got hacked and all of his personal information was compromised; bc the hacker busted through the firewall...

This has made me pretty paranoid, as I conduct most of my business online.

I recently found this overview of firewalls on ZoneAlarms site:

    http://www.zonealarm.com/security/en-us/firewall/good-firewall.htm
They really seem to know what they are talking about.

This page says that ‘Some firewalls don’t have what’s called “outbound protection”. That means they can’t control information that leaves your computer.’

I heard that if you are using free anti-virus software, that it is better to use the free Zonealarm firewall then the Windows firewall.

Is this because the Windows firewall doesn’t have ‘outbound protection’?

Is it because the Zonealarm firewall is more configurable or user friendly?

If there are any tech geeks in the house, I would love your feedback./..

The Windows Firewall was never a good option, and still isn't. I have used zonealarm and it's great for sure; it created by Checkpoint LTD which develops many enterprise software firewalls. However I have switched to ESet Smart Security which combines both an anti-virus/Malware with a very good firewall; which is very user friendly and easy on system resources. It too blocks unauthorized outbound traffic which is critical in IT security, but often overlooked. You can always give the trial a go and see what you think: http://www.eset.com/download/free-trial/smart-security

If you have any other questions I would be glad to help.

OK, this is kind of off-topic but to the original poster - who the hell is that in your avatar? That man has the most ridiculously oversized physique I've ever seen. He's so freaking massive it almost looks like the image has been photoshopped. Crazy, man.
