Why are there so many douch bags at iron gyms?
I workout at a family gym for the most part but when I go to the local "hard core gym" most of the guys are massive douch bags! these guys walk around like they own the gym and dont smile lol If you walk any were around them they look at you like you just spit on them lol and if you ask to work in they act like you just asked for 100 bucks lol wtf????
Most of these guys are on so much gear they would prob grow no matter wtf they did lol I mean Im really big guy but this one guy has to be like 280lbs and all he did was stare me down the whole time? is this common? lol

Just another reason I lift at my University's gym. I know my Uni offers memberships to the general public, maybe look into it for yourself too ? Mine has a pretty friendly atmosphere and it's mostly people 18-25 that go there so only a handful if even are on gear. Plus lots of cute young girls guaranteed to be on the treadmills.

I hate iron gyms! all the douche bags walking around in army pants and wife beaters. Everyone thinks they are so hardcore. I have to hear the powerlifters talk crap on everyone who doesn't want to be a powerlifters, the body builders talk crap on everyone who doesn't want to look like them.......just gets old. I go to the golds gym next to the college and i love it. The gym is my social time too and at this golds there's about 200 college kids on an average night.

Half the guys think that being 25% bf makes you jacked...horrible form on every lift, and they wrap everything! I mean the worst form ever! half these guys dont even hit 90 degrees on squats or presses.
The guys who are absolutely massive are on so much sauce! the one guy who look like mutant lol hes like 8% bf with a 40 inch slin gut, tatoos all over, and a jaw the size of a shark lol the guy has like 24 inch arms easy...just a beast but in no way does it look good on him! and these other guys look at him like hes jessica alba lol

I've never once experienced a d-bag at my gym. Sure there's seriously juiced up dudes strutting around but never have I experienced douche like qualities in them. I think those of you that come on here and complain of this have your own insecurity issues. Why are you in there accessing peoples personalities anyway? Get in there, let your man out, move some weight and get out! Maybe you do encounter D-bags but your the drama queen talking about it on the forums!

On time a guy asked me for a spot and said he was gunna gor for 4-5 reps...he had 5 plates on the bar so I was little worried and said "keep contact" OMG! I almost broke my back spoting him! I racked it after the first rep cuz I was afriad for his life lol he asked me why and I told him because I was dead lifting about 300lbs of the weight lol I honestly dont think this guy could have done 225 more then a few times....just another chubby show off.

I think where ever you go, there will always be douche bags. Sometimes they congregate together, and then it seems like it is a representation of that gym. My suggestion is that if you don't like the environment at that particular gym, to go find another. Or invest in some equipment at your house.
I had a similar situation at a college gym years ago, not from the dudes in the gym, but from the football coach that thought he owned the gym and that it was only for his football players (it clearly wasn't). It was a powerlifting course, and instead of challenging the coach, i just said fuk it and found somewhere else to work out.

I've been a member of about 20-30 different gyms over the years and there are these guys at all of them. It gets on my nerves, but whatevs. I'm a smaller guy so I don't command much respect, but then again, I don't ask for it. I get in with my earbuds in, head down, get my work done and GTFO. The gym isn't social time for me like those guys.
The most annoying thing is that they act like their work is more important than mine. They'll congregate on the bench or squat rack and show off to each other when I want to use that piece. I don't sweat it though. It makes me mix up my exercises. I just move on.

I usually just ignore them unless they're screaming and carrying on while benching 315 like it's 500lbs. About a year and a half ago there was about 5 or 6 working out together doing just what i mentioned. I kinda laughed to myself and when the bench right next to them opened up i quietly went over to it loaded up 225 and did 4 or 5 reps. Then put 315 on the bar and pushed 5 or 6 out, unloaded the bar and walked away. No grunts whatsoever. No one said a word, just looks.

ive been to 3 "dungeon" gyms and the reason the big strong mofos pick on the smaller weak or new guys is because they havent earned their stripes. being the new guy you need to earn their respect, and if you're weak why would they respect you? their goal is to get stronger, if you're not strong or not strong for your size then you wont fit it, although i do agree theres alot of f'in d bags at gyms some arent even strong, but i can say from experience once you put in the time to improve yourself, they will respect you

Earn your stripes?? I can out lift half these goons and they still dont respect me. I dont want to be a hypocrite because I have used steroids but most of these guys are full of big macks and dbol lol they would just be fat slobs without sauce....I work hard to stay lean and large at the same time! I earn my stripes every time I eat chicken and yams instead of pizza haha
I think it might be because many of these guys have selfs esteem issues...not that this a break through or anything lol I lift the same at 195lbs 9% bf that some o these guys do at 260lbs...

Just man up. There's douche bags at the mall, club, grocery store, alcoholics anonymous, planned parenthood, down the street, in Florida, riding in minivans etc. There will be a few d-bags at every gym you go to.

Id love to but I dont have a cam and even if I did i wouldnt know how to use it...I just learned how to post picture on this things the other day! lol I have no reason to lie my stats that I list are realistic...Im a bodybuilder so I dont aim for maxing out but I can throw up some heavy weight for reps. 275 bench with tempo and control, I tired to do max on bench not long ago for the hell of it and did 315 but Im sure I could have done more because It didnt seem to hard. Squats I usually stick to about 225-255 and do higher reps and go very deep! but I can throw on 315 and do it no problem. Deads I do 405 right now for reps but have done 505 for 2....just about broke my back lol I put up good weight for a guy my size.

Alot of these 250lb juicehead gorillas meet their maker at the bar or club when they pick a fight with a guy trained in MMA or kickboxing.
It's a balance of nature
There was this juicehead at our party and he obviously wanted to show off so he picked a stupid fight with a my friend who is a lean muscular former college football player. And my friend told him to back off and he pushed my friend (who was at least 4 inches shorter than the guy) and my friend just decked him straight in the face kid fell down, my other friend picked him up and smashed him through a table. The guy left bleeding and even the kid's friends who just stood there said he is known dbag and they don't like him lol
Most of my friends I workout with are really nice people in real life and don't walk around like the world is theirs just because they are big.

lol yeah i agree, it makes me mad to when somebody thinks they are so badass just because they have big muscles but never played hard sports, personally im not scared of those people at all, i played football and wrestling and i know that lifting weights doesnt even compare to how much tougher those sports make you, in a fight of a musclebound jackass vs. a wrestler all my money is on the wrestler

The people who are massively big and act like they are HULK, are guys who are lifting because of all the wrong reasons.
They are insecure little pussies who need attention from others thus they make themselves so big that others HAVE to notice them. That attention fuels their pathetic self-esteem and they walk around like they own the world because they need to feel empowered and respected and being 260lbs is the only way they can do that.
Little psychology advice for you
FYI if a juicehead gorilla keeps staring at you repeatedly, it means he is "paranoid" that your muscularity is matching his or will one day match his so he views you as a "threat"

Maybe the big guy staring at you was gay, probably thought you had a nice ass and wanted to ask you out on a date but couldn't find the courage. I don't know what the guy was thinking and neither do any of you, don't let your paranoia get the best of you bro, just go to the gym and get work done.

The guys who are the real douche bags are the one who "act" like they're 250+. There's this one dude at my gym who is obviously on the sauce. He's so uncoordinated and unathletic that I'm embarrassed for him. Yet, he walks around bowed up with his arms at 45* angles like his lats are so big they can't hang straight. He's so sunburned from the tanning bed that he's perma-red and he has frosted tips in his hair. He wears nothing but wife beaters. He has some decent size but friggin bird legs and I could swear every day is Chest and Bi's for him.
He's a perfect example of Douchy-ness all over the world. Don't be that guy.
