just looking for thoughts and comments

i am contemplating going to nursing school since i cannot find a decent paying job in this economy. i love everything about my breast cancer job that i have now, but it ain't paying well enough to keep me around, and i have not seen a penny raise in two years. the nursing program is an accelerated program and only lasts 10 months. do i say F it and go into a lil more debt (only have 31k now) now so i can reap the benefits later? plus, i think there is a contract that one can sign with the school/hospital to where you are obligated to work for them for 2 years after graduation and they will pay for school. here is a little history about me, i was in nursing school about 5 years ago but i wasn't focused on school at the time (partying and women). i failed out of the second to last class by two test questions and then just went to work after that. it took me a little while to mature and then i went back to school and finished my bachelor's degree while working full time and did 54 hours in one year! it took me a while to find any kind of job after the first recession hit back in 2008 and then this doctor decided to take a chance on me. i thought the job of doing cancer research would have paid a little more than i am making but it doesn't and it sucks! i can't sustain a living like this so that is why i have been job hunting and thinking about school again. with school, i would first have to see what it would take to get back in good standings with the program in order to even apply. i emailed on of my old professors there and she gave me some numbers to contact so i have to get the ball rolling soon because the deadline to apply is August 15th. well, sorry to ramble on, just looking for other opinions on the matter. thanks.

Never stop educating oneself! You seem to have already figured out what you feel is right for you. And, sounds like only a beginning...good for you ragin....

Any career your passionate about will only lead to more openings in the future if you desire too.

i did a mid life career change.... extremely difficult and took around 4 years to transition..... glad i did it now..... not so glad as I was doing it then

I did the whole mid life transition also. It was more of a forced transition due to being laid off and lack of work in the field but I'm also glad I did. I make almost 3x as much and do 80% less work.

Oh, and my previous employer paid for over 2 year of schooling and unemployment.
