Poll to get an idea of average size of a guy on here
I have been on here off and on for years and until recently I always just kind of assumed that there were allot of rather large guys on here. After reading through the posts on the How Big thread that Marcus started, and seeing people posts stats when asking advice Ive come to be really surprised that while probably awesome builds most guys on here seem to be under 6' and under 210lbs.

This is true, I don't like advice from people 6 inches shorter than me and im weighing 50+ lbs heavier then them.

I gotta disagree with you BigD. I don't believe there is anyone on this forum with my athletic background or my overall level of strength, but I've taken advice from Marcus, Fireguy, Carlos (when he was here), and Nark (when he was here), as well as many others who are much smaller than me. Now I don't get exercise advice from these guys, but when it comes to cycle advice, these guys really know their stuff. And there are many others who know there stuff as well.
Now there are a lot of guys on here who are very small and who couldn't bench press their way out of a wet paper bag. They are clueless but those cats, you can tell.

If someone is 6inches shorter than you I hope you do weigh 50lbs more... I think you meant 6inches taller?
Some people look better than me without ever touching weights or eating well. If you focus too much on the end result of what people look like then you will most likely end up with people who are naturals or abused a ton of gear. The people who struggle to get to where they are (like Fireguy) have to learn the most.
I noticed that most people on this site are really short (like me). I don't think that's a coincidence.

I will just give you a quick example, your training to be an mma fighter and someone like jose aldo gives you training advice or an ex d1 wrestler gives you advice on how to cut the extra 10 pounds, the day of weigh ins even though they are considerably smaller then yourself they are at a higher level of the sport and understanding. The same could be applied to someone asking for advice for contest prep or anything else.
Muscle science is by no means a giant but his understanding of exercise science is amazing, nark well he has an amazing physique isn't huge but is understanding of nutrition is second to none.
I am not big by any means but when it comes to making weight or sport specific exercises I know my shit(I wrestled at 133 in college)

I ALMOST voted for what I "hope" to be post cycle. Under 6' over 200, but I figure I'd give an accurate poll. Lol.
I'm 5" short of the 6' mark, but only 5# short of 200. I'd sure hope I was over 200 with 5 more inches. I guess I just assume that everyone on here is huge, but there's probably a lot of hard gainers on here that are 6'+ an looking to fill out.

Im kind of curious why we're discussing height? It's completely out of any members ability on here to change. If being used as a size indicator of height vs. weight, I see the point. But I kind of took the OP's point to be "all you short f**ks are under 6 foot...really?"

i would say that the average height on this board will correlate to what the average height of a person is in the everyday world, around 5'7.5". i am 5'10 and 183

why would you be shocked? the average height in the US is something like, what? 5'11"? this is supposed to be a representation of all demographics in the US. But there are a lot of demographics that are typically of a shorter stature that don't seem to be represented very well here on the board. I'm thinking asian for one. So I would expect that the average height of the board to be a little taller than the national average... which would put us at 6 foot and taller.
guys... correct me if i am wrong? maybe the average height is shorter than 5'11". now I'm starting to have doubts...

P.S- average BF% of males in the US = 25%. Which is interesting because 25% is considered the threshold of obesity. So, the average man in the US is obese. Lmao.

Exactly!
I am 5' 7" and could be 240 if i wanted....
I would be a fat fuk tho....
Fireguy is 190 @ 5% BF... Shredded (for show)..... I dont care how heavy anyone is, all that matter is how you look.
What Im trying to say is weight means nothing, This is a game of optical illusions and as long as you look like good, who cares what you weighLast edited by baseline_9; 06-15-2011 at 04:25 PM.

I think we are all a little guilty of this. Tall people are looked up to... literally. Beautiful people are popular. They become TV stars. They become spokespeople. They express political opinions they know nothing about or have any experience with (Woody Harrelson, Barbara Streisand, etc...)
On the other hand, short people are looked down on, have a slightly harder time getting equal access to conversation in social mixers. Fat people are "lazy". Ugly men have a harder time getting the attention of attractive females in a dating environment.
Let's see.... jocks are intellectually underdeveloped... the list goes on and on.
Don't believe me? I remember reading awhile ago that the average height of a CEO is about two inches taller than average. Why would that be? Some innate correlation between a person's height and their IQ/Business Acumen? Very doubtful.....
It's all about perception. We all have our slant with different perceptions. This is human nature. Doesn't make it right, but it is reality. I've been guilty of this on many an occassion. More when I was younger, less when I was not so younger.
Granted. Some of these percerptial biases are pretty dumb. But others are much more subtle.
There is a general perception that Asians are "smarter" or more "intelligent" than most other races. Admit it. You've probably thought this at some point in your life. But are they really "smarter" or is something else going on?
My suspicion, (although not an expert, I have lived in Asia for a year), but my suspicion is that it is probably a cultural thing for some reason. I had a few Asian friends in Highschool, and although they, for the most part, received excellent grades, mine sucked. Not once did i really ever think they were more intelligent than me. But here's the difference. After school, I went out with my buddies and went partying. My Asian friends went home and studied. In fact, they worked their asss off.
So, imho, it's ok to have perceptial biases. Sh1t, it's human nature. The trick is to eventually realize it is just a perceptial bias, and grow past that as a person.
Jeez... what a friggin jijak I just wrote.....
