Please help save my daughter (again)
Last September, everyone here graciously helped my daughter in a very big way by taking a few seconds out of their lives to vote for Pepsi to award $250k to the International Rett Syndrome Foundation, which we did win; greatly because of everyone here. Here is that thread: http://forums.steroid.com/showthread...aughter-s-life
Today, that money is being used towards life saving research which will lead to treatments that will save girls, like my very own daughter, from dying early in life from a disease called Rett Syndrome, which is the most severe from of autism in girls. When boys get this genetic disorder, they will usually die in the womb or before age 3. Girls can live disabled from age 3 to 50 in best cases. 30,000 boys miscarry from this each year while 30,000 more girls are born with it.
Currently, there is no treatment or cure, but researchers are very close. In fact, they are testing a very promising treatment right now.
Today, we have another opportunity to raise more money towards saving my daughter's life and the thousands out there like her.
Through the Vivint Project, we now have another shot at $250,000 if we have the most votes. You can vote once per day, everyday until August 27th, 2011.
We are currently in 5th place (June 21st), and about 6300 votes away from 1st place.
Please help save my little girl by simply casting your vote for the International Rett Syndrome Foundation. Here is the link: http://www.vivint.com/givesbackproject/charity/998
And just like before, I can't thank you all enough for helping.

I have a mobile phone.
Bollocks to having my pictures (face) up on some social network site to be viewed by the Police and/or anyone else thats able to access FB.
Facebook constantly pushes the boundries on your security anyhow. Now they have facial recognition and didnt even tell you the default option was "on". You had to turn it off.
Companies gather enough of your and my information on a daily bases and I dont like that. Let alone me posting about myself, where I am going, posting pics from holiday's, weekend away. Not for me but I guess it is for about 700million other people! Haha.

I was ofcourse being facetious.
But, u´re right. Scary how much personal info gets out there these days with the internet. It will end one day with 100% complete transparency IMO, and once that happens, I like to think it´s a good thing.
For my daughter (16) that is leaving 1 country soon to go to college in another.....the networking...amazing...kick ass!!
I´m talking about what she can gain from this ever growing network in the future. Imagine the reach!!....employment, clients, open doors.
When I left my country and gained new relations in another, I had my network written down in a brown phonebook, that eventually faded because the connection was not kept alive, as it is on FB.
Ok...back to the OP......Day 2...#9265 Done.

Right now, our momentum is equal to 2nd and 3 position, and number 1 spot is still moving away from everyone, but slowing down their swing as well. All's we need is just a little more momentum and we will move away from 4th up to 2nd. And if we get a lot more momentum, we can get back 1st in a week or less.
Thanks for voting everyday. It helps our voter base build strength.

Thanks for the amazing support of everyone here. Even though none of you know my daughter or family personally, you all are helping us and others like us, in a very big way. Rett syndrome is no doubt a mother fu&^er to deal with and heartbreaking when your own kid is affected by it, but with support like you guys show, hopefully it will be a thing of the past soon as the funding goes directly towards treatments and cures.
I wish all kids were healthy, and I know we are 3 spots under 3 other worthy causes as well which all affect children too. However, you guys are choosing to help us out, and that means the world to me.
Someone recently asked me what I would do if I won the lottery and my answer is simple; I would buy a cure for my daughter and others like her. The only thing in their way from having a body that does not fail them, is a few million dollars.
Until the cure is here though, I can only do what I can, and that's raise money other ways by asking for help. Your vote matters and means my daughter will live a life of freedom and have the same opportunities like you and I have in life.
Thank you,
OP

I wish you the best.
