What is the worst pain you've ever had to deal with?
outside of a few broken bones here and there, i've gotten off pretty easy.
I will perform some simple medical procedures on myself however. Stitched myself up (no meds) one time. was only about 6 stitches... no big deal.
I have cut off a toe nail several times due to ingrown.
But like I said, I've gotten off real easy.

I've heard doctors say that major trauma burn recovery victims (the ones with a large % of their bodies totally burned) experience excruciating pain during their recovery/rehab.

Spine surgery. I was born with scoliosis and when I was 16 I went in to have it straighten out. Worst pain in my life, even doped up on morphine the pain would not go away. I have three harrington rods in my spine for the rest of my life.

i broke my right arm playing baseball when i was eleven. everyone around thought that i was trying to throw a curveball and that my shoulder had popped out of place. i was screaming don't touch me, as they were trying to place my shoulder back in place. the x-ray revealed that my bone was completely in half. two years later, same shit happened but i was more pissed than in pain!

Good thread Times...I'm sure some of us (including myself) should be grateful not having to experience such.

I've had alot of broken stuff and stitches. The 2 most painful were probably breaking my eye socket, and i had my tonsils removed when i was 25. Then it got infected a few days later. I ended up back in the hospital. I pain meds from them and bringing my own from home and it still hurt like hell

Spinal injury. Extruded disk and several bulging. Couldn't move without pain. Couldn't get out of bed to walk to the bathroom. Oftentimes I would finally NEED to get up and I would make it a few steps only to find that it hurt too much to take another step, and it hurt to stand still. I would literally stand there and cry.

(1) - Being diagnosed with Overreactive Bladder Syndrome at 18 (Common problem for Seniors) - Can never drink caffeine, soda, stimulants, alcohol, etc, etc for the rest of my life as per my Urologists' orders. Sortof of blessing in disguise I suppose. Hate giving my speech every time though someone asks me why I don't drink.
(2) - Broken heart. Dated a girl for two years. First 18 months were bliss, somehow in the final 6 she went off the deep end, hiding things, cheating, lying about things people don't even joke about, etc.

when I was 4 i was going down a steep street on a bike w/my brother steering it while I was peddling. Something went wrong and i ended up going face first onto the pavement. We ended up sliding down the street about 30 more feet, me face down w/my brother laying on top of me. In the end i ended up w/72 stitches on my face, my left eyelid was halfway torn off, and I had a lazy eye for over a year.
had a compound fracture on my left forearm while skateboarding back in the day. Use to ride halfpipes, just got too much air, came down on the railing and while trying to brace myself w/my forearm it ended up busting it in half, w/half of the bone ripped out of my skin. I jacked myself up pretty bad during my skateboard years.
In my early 20's had a really nasty pain in my back one night. Started getting worse so I called my brother who was 2 hours away to take me to the hospital. Pain was getting worse and worse. Finally my brother shows up, takes me to the hospital and it turns out to be a kidney stone. Pain was the worst i've ever felt. But once they hook you up to morphine, the pain dies w/in 5 seconds.

Broken collarbone when I was around 12 years old. The actual breaking it didn't hurt. What hurt was when my buddy grabbed my arm and lifted it above my head while saying "is it broke?" The bone was broken but still sitting straight before that. After he lifted my arm the bone completely dislodged and popped up on top of itself almost breaking through the skin.
I filet'd my pinkie in half longways when a pocket knife I was using as a screwdriver snapped shut on it. Opening it back up was an instant reaction but very painful.
I was stabbed in the forearm (blocking the knife from my chest) this didn't really hurt tho. The adrenaline was already so high I didn't even think he had got me until I saw the blood a few minutes later.
The most painful is a reoccurring issue tho. The bottom three vertebrae in my back are twisted and locked. I'm used to a small amount of pain everyday which is no big deal but every few months or so I'll tweak it the wrong way and the next day I am completely immobilized. Last time it happened my ex thought I was over exaggerating and wouldn't help me get out of bed to walk to the bathroom. When she came back fifteen minutes later and I was crawling on the floor with watery eyes she realized the pain I was in. It's undescribable pain. It shoots from the lower back to every single nerve in my body. If I stand up while it's acting up and I'm not careful with how I move I get shots of pain that literally drop me to te ground. After a few days it clears up and I'm gtg for a while tho.

bulging discs and severe ingrown toenails getting stepped on by 300 pound lineman to the point the nail came out the side of the toe
i will say probably the worst was the shots used to numb before cutting out those toenails. 8 shots in my bigtoe feeling the needle that went through the top just about pushing through the skin on the bottom (worse when he cut away the skin and i said oh fvck, and he goes "oh i guess you arent completely numb yet", pops off the needle and just squirts the Novocaine on where he cut)

the muscles in my ears contracted and wouldn't stop crushing my inner ear... honestly if i had a gun i would have ended it all right there.. it lasted about 90mins, it was caused by a throat surgery i had about 7 days prior.
as small as it was in the grand scheme, honestly the pain was so intense there is nothing i wouldn't have done to end it.

Hit a tree on my motorcycle at 30mph. FML, broke my ribcage in multiple places, lost my spleen and crushed a kidney. Went through 500 percs in 4 months. Was off work for 5.

We've got a winner!!! LOL!! Props to you brotha on your survival.
I've had a ton of injuries, I had 13 knee surgeries, broken an ankle, my nose 8 times, ribs, every finger, a couple toes, but I have to say the worst pain ever was getting shot a close range by salt rock in leg. Felt like someone had poured acid on my leg.

Can't think of what the worst pain i've had was.....
I had my meniscus torn while in a kneebar durring a jiujitsu match.....
I had an injection from hell once..... Shot my delt..... my whole arm felt like it was on fire for 10 minutes. Not even kidding..... it felt like it was in a fvcking fire. I couldn't even believe it.... I had to run into the shower lol. Ironically cold water made it worse..... hot water made it go away.
The second longest relationship I ever had was one of the more painful times of my life. Loved the girl to death..... but she had some insecurity issues. Looking back on it..... her biggest crime was loving me too much. I didn't understand it at the time..... but ah well. She had issues tho.... no drivers liscense (scared to drive) - when we fought she'd get her mom to help her argue with me..... LOL.

I broke my leg a couple weeks ago and walked around on it for four days before i realized it was broken.. so there is a guage for my pain tolerance.
i had a cut on my right leg and it got infected with Strep infection.. after about 36 hours the pain was so unbearable i was crying.. imagine someone stabbing you with a knife made of salt and then setting your leg on fire at the same time.. it was literally being eaten from the inside.. god that hurt. Ive been hit by a car going 30mph, had 9 hour tattoos, branded myself with 6" by 2" words, kicked in the nuts, pipe bomb shrapnel into my legs, you name it nothing hurts like an infection after it takes serious hold of you.
