Getting food down in the summer heat?

I'm a garbage man by trade spending 10 - 12 hours a day running and lifting. On the whole I probably log around 10 miles a day in short sprints and move and lift about 7 tons of trash. My question is for anyone else grinding out their living outside, how do you manage to get all your food down during the summer and keep it down? The heat just leaves me with no appetite a lot of times.

I've actually upped the size of my meals and cut down to 4 sometimes 5 whole food meals perday. It's helped a little by giving me more time between meals, but I still put one off from time to time which leaves me with around 5 hours between 2 of them.

Granted with the pace we move at sometimes it can take me as much as an hour to get through the food for one meal and it's still a struggle a lot of times.

Doesn't the garbage smell put off your apetite? Or are you pretty much used to it?

I'm totally used to it now. Honestly my appetite hits pretty hard when I roll intothe landfill. A lot of times during the summer it smells just like mcdonalds BBQ sauce. Well to me anyway, probably not so much to someone who doesn't deal with it regularly. My wife gets pretty mad when I cook and toss the meat packaging in a fresh trash bag because I never notice the smell.

The heat is the only thing I've really found that kills it for me. I guess for a lot of people it would be like spending an hour on the treadmill jumping off trying to put down a chicken breast and a cup of rice and then jump back on the treadmill for another hour

the heat reduces my appetite as well. Get as much solid food down as you can. less hot food, more cold food. salads are good. instead of hot chicken, you can coook it and cut into chunks, and after it cools, in the salad it goes.
the other thing is I drink alot of water, which fills my stomach, making it more difficult to eat as well.

eating alot of cold veggies (celery sticks, cherry tomatos, carrot sticks...) and dipping in peanut butter or other healthy dip is good too.

but i don't have a very good answer for this one.... I struggle with it too...

I struggle too in the heat, but I add protein powder to my oats in the morning and have a pre and post workout protein drink with extra protein and milk added. I can only manage about 4 solid meals in the Summer. It is only 44C (111F) in the shade so it is not really hot yet!!
