Mazda rx8.... to get or not to get it?

    What's up guys?

So I'm in need a purchising a new car in the next couple of weeks. I've been looking into just about everything and one car that really sparks my interest is the mazda rx8. I've got about 7200 saved up and I'm looking to get an 04, with hopefully less than 80k miles. I could finance up to 10000 though.

So what do you have to say about the rx8?

In my opinnion it looks really nice , but you could wait little bit more and see what other cars you could buy.

they are crap. I have a friend who has one and is on his second motor, lucky for warranty. And a friend that works at mazda and say they are always in for service problems. I like them but would never buy one

Yeah, thats a common problem with these things. People don't know how to treat the rotary engine so it often falls into disrepair. I think if I can find a lower mileage one that I can take good care of, I think I'll avoid the repair costs.

i heard if its a short trip you should sit and let them idle for a while before turning off

because that also makes the car unique with the rotary engine. Most who have the car like it, those who abuse it don't.

As noted, do your research first and find out how it's be treated. If you treat it right and can research to fix the little bugs then it can be a fun car. If you are not patient and mechanical no way would I buy one. It's not the same as other cars as noted. You cant just jump in and go or shut it off when you start. you have to follow the process or you will kill it soon. Same with any turbo car. You have to let them idle a couple of minutes before shutting them down or you burn up the turbos. Just keep it in mind.

I haven't made my mind up yet, but it has come down to rx8, tacoma, eclipse, and possibly a sports civic.

Have you looked at the 350z/370Z, mazdaspeed miata, VW R32, Nissan Altima SER, or RSX type S? So many to pick.

I bought an infiniti but a 350z is an awesome car. Basically the same thing. If I were to ever buy an RX8 I would NEVER buy one used as the protocol must be adhered to or else it goes to crap. Why bother?

    nice dec.

make sure you get the track. the brembos make it worth while when you get into trouble

and get the rev up engine. 300hp one. other wise its a bit less in power.
