    Man wakes up in morgue

    holy shit can you imagine

    http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/43883394...nce/?GT1=43001

A 50-year-old South African man woke up inside a mortuary over the weekend and screamed to be let out — scaring away attendants who thought he was a ghost.

The man's family presumed he was dead when they could not wake him on Saturday night and contacted a private morgue in a rural village in the Eastern Cape, according to a news report on the BBC's website.

He spent almost 24 hours inside the morgue, the region's health department spokesman told the Sapa news agency. The man woke up at 5:00 p.m. local time, startling two attendants, and demanded to be let out of the chilly morgue. The workers, frightened, ran away, but returned to call an ambulance to take the man to the hospital, where he was treated for dehydration.

"Doctors put him under observation and concluded he was stable," Eastern Cape health spokesperson Sizwe Kupelo said. "He did not need further treatment."

A lesson can be learned from the whole ordeal: Call a doctor to make sure a person is dead before calling the undertaker.

"You begin to you ask yourself how many other people have died like that in a morgue," Kupelo said. "We need to (get) the message across to all South Africans that it is very wrong for them to conclude on their own that a person has died."

I cant imagine what was going through that guys mind when he woke up!

In all fairness, if I worked in a morgue and i heard noises coming from a draw (where you know, the dead are) I would probably shit my pants as well!

It can only happen in a rural 3rd world type area where people have no or little education. It's still believed in places that during the 3 days of viewing after death you have to keep guards posted by the body because if a cat comes to close or jumps on the body it will sit up and walk, be a zombie. The less educated the more superstitious people are. Ever notice that? It's one thing to be startled or scared but another to think it's a ghost or walking dead. Lucky they had not seem night of the living dead or they would have shot him in the head. LOL

Omg this story is freaky! This has got to be everyone's worst fear...well besides waking up in a coffin. They say that back in the dizzle ('day' for you old people), people feared this so much they actually buried you in a coffin with a small chain to pull that led up to a bell that would alert the graveyard attendant you were alive so that you could be saved....yes, i think i will have this option at my funeral! F*ck waking up in a coffin!
