What's the best weapon to have handy in your vehicle?
This is something that crosses my mind now and then but I never get around to really thinking about it deeply. This post will finally change that!
I'm looking for ideas on what would be the 'best' weapon to keep handy in my truck. Let me define what I mean by best:
1) I'm a registered firearms holder, but this is NJ and we cannot carry, so that's out of the question
2) I'm not interested in carrying a knife or the like as I am not prepared to stab somebody, potentially to death - unless my life were at risk of course. But i'm talking more about a potential altercation that might require me to have some extra 'muscle' on hand
3) Something small enough to keep near, but big enough to intimidate so I hopefully won't have to use it. A baseball bat is too big... and so played out, people are ALMOST not even scared of it
4) I drive a Ford F150 Pickup, so keep in mind I don't have a ton of room up in that cab.
Something along the lines of a cop's club is what i'm thinking, but i'd love to hear some other ideas. I'm looking for something along the lines of a 'blunt' type weapon, vs. close contact fists (i.e. brass knuckles for instance).
What do you think?

bear mace bro. just saying if it will **** up a grizzly bear it should dominate some 200lbs punks. Plus i dont see you getting sued or in trouble for using it compared to keeping a bat or some shit in your car.

not to mention you can literally own a crowd of people with it. I know from first hand experience.

It can be justified if questioned why you have it and can do a lot of damage

This stuff works great... its police issue grade and is the strongest available, or atleast was 1 yr ago when I bought it for my gf... It's small, easy to hide, and can drop anyone in seconds... and you can buy it in died colors, so not only does it sting like a bit*h, but will stain the persons skin blue or green for days.. haha!Last edited by jasc; 08-18-2011 at 07:46 PM.

I bought my brother one of those extendable batons. Work great lol. But I believe you should carry something that looks like it belongs in your car.

spray and batons are illegal here, I have a 45cm piece of 35mm2 4core and earth cable(see pic). If I get questioned I can just say its an off cut, i'm a sparky. Also have a crow bar in my work truck. even a decent shifter

Javelin with 125 Lumens of blinding constant on or pulsing light, to blind your opponent, and a glass break/self defense bezel, if you dig that bezel into someones face, neck, ear, eyeball, etc, you will stop their attack dead in its tracks. You press the end of the bezel firmly against their skin, and then as you push in harder you use a twisting motion to twist and tear flesh at the same time.
It has a legitimate purpose in your vehicle, its an emergency light in case of a road hazard or for changing a tire or other motor vehicle trouble. I was keeping a 4-D Battery maglight in my car until I got this.
Of course, carrying a firearm is always the most preferrable weapon for self-defense, so as not to accidentally bring a flashlight to a gun fight, but unfortunately in the peoples republic of New Jersey (PRNJ), self-defense is a crime, and we have to allow lawless thugs to assault us like a lion stalking a f**king Carabou.

i am glad i live down south! gun laws are so different and i do not understand why other states do not allow people to carry one. the flashlight is a great one, i have a few of those. i keep one in the truck at all times. tire iron works great as well and you don't have to justify it. as someone mentioned before, just flex those pythons on them!!!

^^ yep, i'm thinking the spray would be the best combination of practical and effective
lol! I wish. However if I flexed, I might be able to hook off on the dude while he's caught off guard, doubled over in laughter. =\
THIS thing is fvcking awesome! But, just like a knife, I don't know that i'm ready to dig that shit into somebody's face... unless my life is threatened of course. Yea man, it sucks here in NJ - having the ability to carry would have ALOT of these punk ass mofo's thinking twice before popping shit and running their mouths.
South is where it's at when it comes to this!!! RJ these aren't pythons, more like garter snakes!
@Auslifta - holy high resolution!

Being in construction i have different tools and/or pieces of material next to my seat for altercations where I am out numbered.I have used hammers, pipe wrenches, crowbars, pieces of feeder wire. My favorite that hasnt tasted flesh yet but will break bone for sure is a piece of solid stainless steel 1 1/2" diameter and about 12" long. It weighs like 2lbs. I put a dent in a car the size of a basketball with minimal effort. FYI this altercation was two guys, both ran back to their car when they realized what was about to happen to them. All these items are easily accessed and perfectly reasonable to have in my vehicle due to my profession.
LA is a dangerous place to live hardly anyone "plays fair" anymore.Last edited by Sicko; 08-19-2011 at 12:21 PM.

LMFAO
I think the spray would be good
Or a flame thrower made our of a can of hairspray with a ignition made from a disposable camera.... I love making weapons lol
Simply spray the spay, the process of pressing down the spray releases the spark and your off.... I dont have one any more... Wish I did so i could post a picture...
You could go with one of these, maybe a little small tho....

AZ folks are lucky, carry concealed without permit. Check you state laws carefully. Many do not consider muzzleloaders "firearms". When I lived in various states back east I had one of those inexpensive repro civil war era Navy
Colts in that pouch on the side of the drivers door. Six shot. .36 round ball, muzzleloader as each cylinder had to be
charged with powder then a percussion cap affixted to the nipple on back of cylinder. Plenty available for $250-300.
Not considered a firearm under federal law, hence can be shipped with out any paperwork. I do believe some states
make you jump through hoops re: muzzleloaders. CA, for one. (Out there I would want a grenade launcher)
