Please pray for my uncle...
I have an uncle who lives in Mexico with his wife and my 12 year old niece. My uncle met his wife years ago and for whatever reason, decided to move down there with her.
As you probably know, things in Mexico are TERRIBLE right now with this drug war. These rebels are kidnapping people, killing them, etc. It used to be mainly wealthy people being kidnapped for ransom; now they're so out of control, they're just doing it to anybody at will, wealthy or not.
So, my uncle and his wife made the decision to move to the States (thank GOD!). This was tough for his wife as her entire family is there, but they're doing it for their daughter, and because they're fearful for their lives at this point.
My niece was flown out to the states a few weeks ago and is safe. My uncle and the wife are literally making a run for the border; for reasons unclear to me, they have to drive, they can't fly. They plan to leave very early tomorrow morning as they feel that's their best chances of making it. Leading to my point...
A few weeks ago I had a very sobering conversation with my uncle regarding all of this. He told me about their plans to flee the country, and said that as crazy and extreme as it sounds, the chances of them being kidnapped and/or killed are VERY high. They can literally turn the corner and if there's a roadblock put up by cops (the police corruption there is ridiculous), that could be it. We had a long conversation and he literally asked me if I would adopt his daughter, that he knew it was a huge thing to ask, but at least if he had to die, he'd go knowing she'd be safe and taken care of. She's a great kid, LOVES me and my wife, and we love her. I talked it over with my wife, and although we're about to have a kid of our own, we of course said yes.
I'm just asking you all to say a quick prayer if you happen to think about it. With any luck, he'll be safely in the States sometime tomorrow. I'll update once I hear any news, good or bad.
Thanks guys!!!

Appreciate it OJ!
As always, thanks for your support hun.
Thx Aus!
They'll initially be staying with my Grandmother (my uncle's mother) - that's who my niece is staying with now. Once they get on their feet, they'll get into an apartment close to her. Thx bro, appreciate your kind words and thoughts!
Me neither. Funny how during things like this, we start using words like 'prayer', lol!
Big SD, thanks bro!
Thx hun! PS - you still have the coolest name ever on AR.
Appreciate that Jimmy... and with that.... the update....
I just called my Grandmother and got the report - they are safely in the US, currently in Texas!!! So, crisis averted. Thanks to you all for your thoughts. Now I can go back to obsessing over unimportant stuff in life, like my love handles and such!

Good to hear everyone is safe. You are a stand up guy. Although most people would say yes when it came down to it they probably would not. That is a huge responsibility.
That's to bad it's getting so out of hand. It's to bad the the US helped make the situation so much worse by supplying a large number of the guns also.
Ive always enjoyed Mexico but I may wait a while before I return or go visit my Condo.

^^ Thx Lovebyts, and I agree about it being a shame over there. I went to Mexico twice last year, and while it was still bad at the time, it was nothing like today from what i'm being told. We had the best time of our lives there and it's so sad we can go revist the places we went to.

I will pray for your family even that I'm atheist. Depends on how much kids you have and your family situation, I would definently adopt your uncles daughter if I would be on your place.
I hope everything turns out, they stay alive and they live for a long time.

[QUOTE Thx hun! PS - you still have the coolest name ever on AR.
Lol! Awww, thanks GB! It's one of the nicknames that my riding buddies call me so I can't take credit for the colorful name choice.

Glad to hear things went well. Now not so stressful on you and the wifey. Very honorable of u. Walk a lil taller and sleep better at night knowing U made a big difference in someone elses lives. This is what seperates the men from the boys.
