Norris and Van Damme Confirmed For Expendables 2!!
Norris and Van Damme Confirmed For Expendables 2
Source: Entertainment Weekly September 13, 2011
Last week, it was announced that Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger would return for The Expendables 2 with expanded roles. Now, Sylvester Stallone confirms to EW that the long-rumored casting of Chuck Norris and Jean-Claude Van Damme is also true. What's more, the Face/Off pair of Nicolas Cage and John Travolta may be getting into the action as well.
“We’ll have a big showdown between me and Van Damme," Stallone told the outlet, "which has been anticipated for a long time, so it should be a good one."
Co-written and directed by Stallone, the original Expendables also starred Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Eric Roberts, Randy Couture, Steve Austin, David Zayas, Giselle Itie, Charisma Carpenter, Gary Daniels, Terry Crews and Mickey Rourke. For the second go-round, Simon West will be handling directing duties.
With production beginning next month in Bulgaria, Stallone is still finalizing plans about who will appear, though he hints that Cage is close to a lock and Travolta is bit more uncertain.
“It’s possible," he said of the unconfirmed casting, "The one thing I’ve learned is what is a fact on Monday is a complete fallacy on Tuesday. A lot of it is scheduling. It’s not financial. It’s just that Bulgaria is definitely a jaunt. It’s a commitment, you know what I mean? Especially in the dead of winter.”
The Expendables 2 is planning an August 17, 2012 release.

How could they cast this any worse? Nicholas Cage, John Trovolta, Van damme, and Chuck Norris?!?! WTF? It's like they brought together all the worst guys you could put in a movie. All they need is that fat guy with the long hair. I forgot his name.

Ok.... if it is suppose to be fun for the old super star action heroes... I can see ol chuck and Van Damme... but Nic Cage and Travolta? WTF... Travolta gonna start doing some dance moves or what?
LMAO on Seagal... My kids and I always joke about his movies (we still watch them for action junk time passing. lol)... but who would win in a movie scene fight. Chuck Norris or Steven Seagal? That is the two all-time egotistical movie fighters. I will have to call Chuck, but I seriously don't know who carried a bigger ego on the set???? lmao

First one was shiit, not expecting any better next time around.
When watching the first one, I kept thinking how sly wrote and directed it, and all those lines in it when people were telling him how good he looks and how he was the main bad arse. Made me feel sick. Terrible story with just as bad acting and pathetic script. Norris, damme and segal would fit right in if you ask me.
Arnie, Bruce Willis and Stratham should have stayed well away from this crap. Rant over.

You nay sayers are missing the entire point of what Stallone was trying to do with The Expendables. These films are meant to be an homage to an era of films gone by...these guys aren't in the movies because they are great actors, but because they were at the nucleus of a great genre in American film.

I thought the first one was pretty decent for what it was... When you see a cast like that you have to expect your typical "action movie", weak story line, mediocre acting, cheesey quotes, but tons of fighting and explosions.. The humor of it all was part of what made these movies work. It definitely wasn't cast for the quality of acting, but had the same feel and appeal as your typical 90's - early 2000's action movie made with many of the stars who were once icons in that genre..
I think Van Damme will fit in well ... the other 3 new cast members, or rumored cast members are poor choices (norris, travolta, cage)Last edited by jasc; 09-15-2011 at 10:45 AM.
