    Home Gyms

Looking to add either bowflex selectec or power blocks to my home gym of powertec leverage system etc etc. trying to keep things nice and compact suitable for an apartment. I'm leaning towards power blocks, I like the grips better and how they are only as large as the amount of weight you're lifting. Any advice on which one to get? Or any other must haves?

    and don't forget Craigslist....

....there's a ton of crap out there for pennies on the dollar due to the economy

I picked up a 4 workstation (bench, butterfly, curls, pullup/dipping stations) for $100 a couple of years ago.

I wont ever use an inbetween the door chin up bar. A buddy of mine broke his neck when he was doing knee raises and the damn thing came loose. Dropped him on his 5th vertebrae or something. Doctors told him he was lucky to be walking.

I wont ever skimp on equipment.

your friend is lucky to be walking and broke his neck failing inside a door jam? If he didnt land on his feet he would have landed on his ass from all of 3 feet.

He was lifting his knees to his chin. When the bar gave way his pull-up momentum rocked him towards his head. Landed right on his neck. Snap!

All you need for a home gym:

between door chin up bar - $30
    Universal Squat rack - $500
    Bench press - $400
weights 5lbs-120lbs - around a grand if you can get them used even better!
    Multi use bench - $100
    Bands - $100
Step and or bow - $100-200

This is just about all you need...you could add a cable machine if you want but you really dont need it.
