Meeting females in the gym.
So Wednesday I will be moving to a large area with a huge gym (Gold's). Now I come from a gym with maybe 50 members and 24 hour access so I'm typically one of the only ones working out, and sadly none of those 50 members are attractive females.
Now that I'm going to be at such a large gym, is that an appropriate place to meet a female? I figure one who's in shape hell yes, but when I'm at the gym I usually hate people talking to me and messing up my workout.
Any thoughts on this? How's it worked for any of yall? (Of course I'll refrain from farting on the leg press like the post below mine )

Females go to the gym to work out not get hit on.
Realist: A person who sees things as they truly are. A practical person. The pessimist complains about the wind; The optimist expects it to change; The realist adjusts the sails. — William Arthur Ward

My gym is like that too. It's one of those New York City Sports club gyms. They have everything I need and it is right across the street from where I live so I still go there. Some women seem to concentrate on working out but there are definitely some women that go there to socialize and seem open to being hit on.

Hitting on girls at the gym is tacky. Its also no unconducive to training hard. I hate making gym friends, apt friends, or coffee friends. All it means is that I have to fake a smile, say hello, and risk small talk every time Im there.

What happens if you do hook up with her and then don't want to see her anymore. You gonna quit the gym? Besides, you want to piss off some female that lifts more than you ? lolo
To me, females are a distraction in the gym, I pretend not to see them..

IMO, women who go to the gym are the best women to talk to. look around first and notice the style/swag of the lady ur thinking of approaching. if she is n shape, its a +, shows committment and determination. if she has on tites, and always doing legs or something to show her booty off its gonna show she is an attention whore. if she is making eye contact go for it lol. those are the 3 groups ive put the women in at my gym (golds--now worlds) lol.

i agree, im far from unsociable usually, but few months ago i changed gyms because i knew every1 there as it was local gym and its far too much of a social venue for many people there, id rather just train, go home and then do the social thing when im not trying to do a forced rep with people standing there trying to have conversation with me about my plans for the weekend, and there is nothing worse than when you trying to avoid women you have been with and they train at same gym, wait at a machine your using and then ask you why you havent rang them

If you actually have something to talk about, go for it. It may lead to something.
But yeah, going up to random chicks and hitting on them is corny. The only time I've been able to get anywhere with women at the gym is if I had already seen them elsewhere, since "Hey, you look really good doing squats" just doesn't cut it.

unless you are looking for a girl who really isnt too interested in being at the gym for training, probably not the best to approach them on the gym floor. Like S4MS said, you can watch them (but not creepy like) and maybe talk to them outside the gym or ask if they want to come grab a coffee or some protein shake (all jokes aside) after your workout.

I just talk to girls normally at the gym like if something comes up or a conversation just falls into place and what happens, happens.. But I have picked up numerous girls at the gym

Just some insight from a womens perspective..... Simply put, if a women is focussed on her workout, with her ipod turned up and not making eye contact with anyone including you then keep on with your workout. However, if she is more interested in her surroundings more than her workout then I say, go for it!!! Good luck and I hope this helps!

I agree with MsM....she is spot on.
I don't own a pair of booty shorts, but my gym wear is tight - the term compression pants comes to mind. I am clearly at the gym to workout = no eye contact and ear buds!!

Currently running the Horse shlt and Bullshlt flag up the pole on this one. Plenty of girls/women go to the gym for the sole purpose of being hit on or picked up. If she is 250lbs and looks like mashed potates and gravy then I am sure he is there for a reason other than men.
Consistant eye contact is the key. But dont over do it to the point she will think your going to follow her to the parking lot. Just a glance then a look and maybe a smile and leave it at that until next time you see her.
Fvck me I am married, and shouldnt know this shit. what am I doing?????????Last edited by wmaousley; 01-08-2012 at 01:17 AM.

I think the gym like anywhere else you get all sorts of variations. To me just becuase a smokin hot female is wearing a tight spandex outfit does not mean she is looking for a hookup, rather she is rightfully proud of the body she has busted her ass year after year to achieve. And is in one of the few places where those around her should understand the commitment it takes. Conversely other females may see the gym as a great place to pickup a guy who is a lot less likely to be a 1 minute wonder than a guy at the local bar scene...so to each their own.
My thoughts are if you work out frequently at a gym you will find occasion to comment on someones workout, be it progress, form, whatever and then if it leads somewhere so be it but to come up to a complete stranger and start flirting with her while she is working out in my eyes in really rude as you are basically saying I want to get laid and to me thats more important than the possibility of disturbing your workout if you are here for totally different reasons.
Back when I was 35 or so I was dating a 22 yr old very attractive female with a super body and every time we would workout if I turned around for one second some moron would walk up midset and start in with the I am a personal trainer bullshit. Some guys can really be assholes and to me its a suprize that more women do not wind up lesbian rather than deal with all the insecure guys who hit on women they know are not into it to mask their insecurities.
OK Rant over ;-)
