Anyone else feel insulted when they dont receieve compliments ?
I hate to sound like a little prick. But like 95% of the people that I have not seen in 2+ years from highschool, always say something about my body and how big i got. Even family. Or even people that i just met, they ask if i play football or played football in highschool and when they say no, there like oh, because your very muscular , and built like one. (not that i believe im some swole badass mother fker like some of the rest of you beats on these forums..) but i guess the general public thinks so... So i sort of expect a compliment now... I saw a family member that i have not seen in 2 years and no comment on how much my body changed, and they used to bust my chops and say that hey looks its twin(pointed at a toy skeleton) and now i see them and they dont mention how big i am now when i put on like 60lbs since they last saw me lol.
im curious if anyone else is the same way-sort of expecting compliments on there physique and perhaps feeling a little insult when no compliment is made...

Nope, in fact you can almost count on the fact that someone who used to bust your balls is now so impressed that he feels foolish for giving you shit so he just trys to act like it's no big deal.......either that or your just really paranoid........or this guy really doesn't give a shit......who knows.

Id rather not hear anything. It inevitably leads to " i used to blah blah blah" or "I joined the gym but I just dont blah blah blah" . Id just as soon skip the whole topic with 99% of all people that bring it up...

x2 because it always seems to lead back to steroids for me. Most of my extended familly members have approached my parents about me using steroids. They still havn't the nerve to ask me though lol

i dont expect one. As much as I should be use to it by this point i still never know how to respond and almost always feel uncomfortable. I hate getting any kind of compliment though... It does a lot of times go back to who ever saying how they used to look or how much they use to lift ect ect...

nd really?
because I've sorta been like this for over 30 years. people that know me, well, that's me and are used to it.
sometimes people that don't know me sometimes say something.
was eating dinner the other night. our chief of party, female, was at the table, and i walk in after just coming back from the gym, and still had my gym clothes on. we're sitting there. she's like, what's wrong with your arms? the veins are sticking out and your arms look swollen (she's over 50, not familiar with weight lifters). this other guy tells her... that's what happens when you spend too much time in the gym!
(i'm like....wtf??)

Some people just don't know how to compliment or know what to say without sounding weird so they dont say anything. I have been there.
One of the worst compliment I got about 8 years ago (helped get me back into working out) was at a conference where a guy said I looked like I USE to work out. Back handed compliment? Either way it made me realize I needed to get back on the right track.

^well coulda been worse. the way she asked (veins sticking out, arms swole up) and the the other guy "splaining" to her why.... too much time in the gym, almost sounded like I needed to go to the clinic or something. like something was wrong with me... and this was two nights ago

My nickname with most of my extended familly was "bones" - i was 6'1" 175lbs and looked like I'd blow away in the wind lol.
It's funny because now they can't call me bones but they don't comment AT ALL about my size. My grandma did LMFAO that was it..... good ole grandma Then I find out that some familly members approached my mother and father about my size. They said they thought I was using steroids because I can't be this big without em. My dad just said "I'd know if he was..... he's in the gym everyday and eats like a horse..... ofcoarse he's gunna get big"
I don't mind really..... Everyone will have their opinions and ultimately..... those opinions dont matter to me.

no not really but i have very veiny arms as soon as i apply pressure like closing my tool box drawer or lifting something they just explode out of my arms and i always see people looking or taking second looks then looking at me like they are going to ask me wtf is wrong with me then they just turn around and walk away lol.

Ahhh yes, aren't family members great fun??? Instead of saying anything to you (afraid of roid rage lol) they go to dear old mom. I had a couple siblings do the same thing not long ago so of course my mom asked me. I actually memtioned TRT to my brother once a while back since he is 20+ years older than me and he told my mom I tried to talk him into taking steroids . LOL Idiot. I had to explain to dear old mom what TRT was and it's prescribed and monitored by a doctor. She was OK then.
When she said something about my size, why do I want to be that big it was nice, my woman jumped in and said it's better I'm being health conscious, the doctors all think it's great and it's recommended to get in shape, be active as much as possible due to my back issues and better than the alternative of being where I was 5 years ago and needed back surgery again. Mom said yes you are right.

x2...Or they'll sit there and tell you "Yeah man I could look like you in a few months, I just don't have the time."
I graduated high school at 170lbs. By Junior year of college (last year) I was almost 270lbs. I would received compliments from most people, with compliments, asshole compliments go hand in hand. "You what kind of steroids do you do.", "I can tell you're on somethin'", "Damnnn bro I need some juice"
I've also noticed that when people don't give compliments, you can tell by their facial expression that they're either impressed or shocked. I live in Jersey. With that being said, everyone is juiced up, so I'm not as impressive to most women, because they see it every day. Haz and I were in Gold's around Halloween sitting at 255lbs and pretty lean, and we didn't hear any compliments. But you know damn well people are impressed when they're looking at you doing a set, or whispering in their friends ear......look for the subliminal messages- they are there.

Never been a big fan of compliments. When they're genuine, they're nice to hear every once in a while, but 90% of the time it's just an opener to ask questions.
No offense, but if you get insulted when someone doesn't compliment you, you've got some insecurity issues.
Had a good friend growin up that was this way. He'd get genuinely insulted if u did not compliment his size/muscles right off the bat when you see him. He would take the "lack of compliment" as you not thinking he looked good. It was pretty sad to see a grown man acting like a child n pouting/throwing a temper tantrum because you didn't tell em his arms looked big.
