    South Carolina GOP Primary

Okay well with less than 1 percent in at this moment in time 7:26 PM Saturday 1/21/2012...media outlets are reporting that Newt Gingrich has won with >35% Mitt Romney >35% as well (or close) and Paul > 10% and Santorum < 10%

My estimate at this moment is that is how it is going to stay. I notice usually when the media says something is going to happen a certain way it does.

Any of you SC folks out there? Who did you see at the polls? Lots of Newt Supporters?

Please dont say that gixxer...nooooooo...paul wants to throw our nukes in the ocean. How far do we make it then? Romney is endorsed by McCain. Both are RINO republicans. I know Newt isnt electable because hes not going to get the chic vote and Im going to be forced to vote for Romney but hes not going to anything good for the Republican party. We do need another Reagan...

I did not say it but since the crack has been cracked. I'll say Ron Paul. It just logically makes sense. The way we are doing it is not working. Lets try something else.

i agree paul goes to far on some things for me. But he would never get most threw congress. Just like congress would get bullshit threw him.
Newt said he would want Palin on his staff. Unless its to bang there is no excuse for that

I would almost vote Obama over Paul...almost...lol I know the media has demonized Sara Palin but shes a conservative and I like her for that. I suppose Im a Libertarian at heart but we need to ignore social crap right now. Our country is going down the drain and we need some Rep leadership. I would prefer Rumsfield or Condi Rice personally...

Looks like Newt cleaned house in S.C. I personally think he's the guy for the GOP to go toe-to-toe with Obama. We'll see how it plays out from here, but I'm pulling for the man.

Side note ... Thoroughly enjoyed watching Newt stick it to John King at CNN this week! Anyone think the press would ever open up a debate like that with Obama?

A libertarian at heart would vote for Obama over Paul? Obama, a progressive liberal warmonger, who recently signed the NDAA making it legal for the military to detain US citizens without habeas corpus, indefinitely? Riiiight... And Newt Gingrich ISNT a RINO? Gingrich, Santorum, and Romney are all RINO's, they stand for everything that TRUE Conservatism IS NOT! They are chickenhawk NEO-CONS! This is absurd.

Nevermind the fact that Paul's voting record is infallable, and that he is on point on fiscal issues, wants little to do with social issues, and has the most controversial point on foreign policy. But this is where most Americans part ways with logic and intelligence, he does not want to "throw our nukes in the ocean." He wants to reduce FORIEGN/OVER SEAS SPENDING&MILITARY PRESENCE. He mentioned in the SC debate the other night that under a Paul Presidency, there would be MORE BASES AT HOME. He wants our military at home, where it can actually protect our country.

If you guys are content with borrowing money from the Chinese, to blow up, and then rebuild, a school, hospital, or bridge in Afghanistan or Iraq, then yes, you should continue to vote for establishment candidates like Romney,Gingrich, Santorum, or Obama.

But lets look at this realistically. Paul draws the largest number of INDEPENDENT voters than any of the other three candidates COMBINED. So with this in mind, and knowing that Republicans will vote for ANY Republican candidate over Obama, we should only be considering who can actually beat Obama. How do you beat Obama? It hinges on independent voters, as well as blue dog democrats. The only candidate who has a snowballs chance in hell of doing that is Paul. If he doesnt get the GOP nomination, we might as well forego a costly election process, and hand Obama his second term.

The CNN poll places Romney and Paul as the only two candidates who can actually win against Obama, only one percentage point apart. You did say you trusted the media right?

Godfather.....great post, well spoken!!! I like Paul and his policies, he has one major flaw.....he has no stage presence!!! The man is too soft spoken to win in a cut throat arena like this one......it makes me sad but it's true. If we could get Donald Trump to teach Ron Paul how to handle questions with confidence and force he would be a shoe in.

Romney is no Republican, he's a Democrat that lost his way and is trying figure out if he should become a liberal or a conservative......you know, Democrat....it's the new Republican.

i wish they had balls and would ask real questions.

Or when they ask a question at the Debate and the candidate say "Well the question you should be asking is...." Then the moderator interrupts and says "No this is the question i'm asking so answer it"

He asked Newt about his ex wife's comments (i'm not saying he should have asked) But Newt went off in a tirade about how asking that for the first question is one of the most despicable things he ever heard. Wouldn't it be great if the moderator asked " Really Newt is it more despicable then cheating on your wife while she has cancer? Or cheating on 2 of your wives? Its that really more despicable then that Newt?"

Not old news revisited; character counts. If a man couldn't even stay faithful to one person, how is he going to run a country. He's a hypocrite, cheater, and liar.

if you look in my post i put i dont think he should have asked.
To me personally no it doesnt really matter. I can see how it does effect character especially since he did it twice.
I was more using that as an example scenario. I think the media , moderators of debates should be aggressive it bullshit.
I had people interviewing me for jobs be more aggressive. And i sure as hell wasnt trying to be president

I agree Gix, Newt has answered those questions, ALL of them, at least to my satisfaction but he should never hesitate or miss a beat when they are asked over and over, just give the answer with confidence and move on. If he can't handle someone asking about something that he actually did without getting pissed off it casts a little doubt in my mind of how he will handle the stresses of being president, that being said I do appreciate Newts stance on the constitution and SOME of his policies aren't too bad either. We'll never find someone who is perfect.

i didnt bash on that it was asked either i was asking if it really matters if someone had an extra marital affair 15 years ago

to me it doesnt...yes it does go to character but moreso character 15 years ago...i do a lot of things differently than i did 15 years ago and i'm sure many of us do as well

agree with jd...nobody is perfect and i do love his stance on constitution and especially how he sites the one judge that stated he would take legal action against the college admin if students used God, or asked ppl to stand up, etc. in their speeches....ppl are really taking to that as they should

to me it doesn't matter alot. I'm not a social conservative and i really don't care. But doing it twice makes me think he is a scumbag . But i dont care if the president is a scumbag if he is a good leader.

I really dont like Newt. yes he is great at debating. He can deflect the bad and argue his points well. But i'm sure you can find some kid on a college debate team that can do that to. Newt spends more time name dropping and saying how great he is then actually saying how he would fix anything.

Character does indeed count, and Newt's character flaws run alot deeper than just infidelity. He flip flops on issues, and his loyalties appear to goto the highest bidder, i.e.- insurance lobby, mortgage companies, etc. Likewise though, President Obama chose to stay in the company of radicals and homegrown terrorists, responsible for bombings in the 60s, he kept close relations with people who openly profess deep anti-American sentiment, that ought to reflect his character as well.
