water and bf%
HELLO! im currently a senior in high school, and my stats are 12% bf(i think), 172lbs, 5'8''. a friend and i have a bet that i drop under 10% bodyfat by the end of may. i currently have dropped 4% from 16% at the beginning of Feb. My question is if intake of water has an effect on bodyfat caliper testing. one of my teachers is in on the bet and they are doing the testing, and next week hes measure my fat. if i drink less water and take some diuretics, will that make any significant difference on the calipers???

probably only a minimal difference. since you have no reason to be suffering from water retention now, there shouldnt be much water under the skin. so getting dehydrated will not help you very much.
but then again, if the stakes are high, every little bit counts! good luck!

Using a diaretic and drinking less water only has a temporary effect and in the longer run you will hold more water. It's better to drink a good healthy amount of water every day and then your body will hold less.

Agreed... especially if you are dieting down. So maybe drink lots of water until the day before the caliper test and drain out the water for safety sake. Just like in wrestling, etc...
The only way water affects the caliper test is if you were extremely water bloated with excessive water retention from running anabolics. Loading up on water naturally will not affect the caliper test. Like I said, if it makes you feel better shed it off with a sweat suit and sauna day before test. It is not good to be depleted of water when dieting down. you should do the exact opposite and drink plenty.

Dont trip about the water as if your coach or teacher or who ever is doing the calipers knows what they are doing because its easy to throw it off

what i mean is its really easy to be wrong on the calipers if the person doesnt know exactly how to use them. The guy being bias about it didnt cross my mind but if you do lose just go with that lol. most people even trainers really dnt know how to use them. and those electric ones are garbage! good luck man
