not really. The cops didnt really investigate. They didnt take the gun. They didnt drug test or alcohol test him. The yperson who wrote the "stand your ground" law says that this law doesnt cover him.

The cops messed up so much. All the evidence points against the guy.

I don't understand how nothing was done that night. I mean, it's like the cops rolled up and found the kid dead...shooter is standing there with the weapon, and the cops were just like "Ok, this appears to be wrapped up, let's go home." I just don't get it.

as of now the stand ur ground law is protecting him.
i do not support this case, he should be in jail, but as of now its ruled justified..

they need to throw book at this guy, as said before, the 911 tape said enough, the guy was a vigilante...

    He'll be fried soon

After closely examining the call, police have uncovered what they believe to be racial slurs towards the kid.. if that's the case, it's now a hate crime

The ACLU is up in arms about it.. they're calling for the police chief to resign over not handling this case properly..

supposedly the US justice department is getting involved.

How do you drug and alcohol test the kid and not the shooter?
how do you send the shooter home with his gun? If a cop shoots someone they take his gun while its being investigated.
How did they not notify the parents of the death for days.

sounds like the cops got some racist crap going on... if it was some middle class white boy getting shot outside a 7-11 in the ghetto and in surveillance you heard the black guy call him a cracker honkey before getting shot.. you bet your ash the whole county would have the black guy detained and beaten because of resisting and assaulting a cop (supposedly) .................................. i hope the guy in FL fries

just cause he used the word coon doesnt mean he killed the kid for being black.

the guy was in a neighborhood watch group, he belongs in prison...

"Stand Your Ground" Authors Say Law Doesn't Apply To Trayvon Martin Shooter

Two lawmakers who crafted the Stand Your Ground Law say the measure doesn't apply to the shooter of Trayvon Martin, a Miami teen shot by a neighborhood watch volunteer, and he should face charges.

"He has no protection under my law," said Former Sen. Durell Peaden, one of the law's authors, The Miami Herald reported. "They got the goods on him. They need to prosecute whoever shot the kid."

Peaden said that when George Zimmerman told dispatch that he was following Martin he lost his defense under the law.

Id advise him to start using a rectum stretcher right now.. cause getting prosecuted is the least of his worries right now.. someone in prison is just going to annihilate that guy. but it wont be 1% equal to the pain he caused that family by taking away their son.

its just hard for me to comprehend a killing where a racist slur was made and not have the color of someones skin at least skew the man judgement? that would be like me shooting a african american and in the recording they hear me use the word ni**er.......... would that not be racist?? cause i know that the world would consider that racist. not arguing JP,, just saying that if this wasnt considered a crime of color,, it wouldnt be advertised that way on tv.

i have been in many situations that got bad, never just because of color, however during the fight racist words were used on both sides.
the fight did not begin cause of racial hate, it was said in the heat of the moment.

however i completely see where u are coming from man, no arguing here, i respect ur views buddy.. just glad we both agree this guy should be locked away..

im just really surprised that its taken (and still continuing to take this long) to arrest him,,, (not even talking about charging him) people have been arrested for less even on domestic abuse... literally one spouse yelling at the other spouse will land a person in jail for 24 hours these days (know this because it happened to a relative)

the recordings of the 911 calls are bone chilling. how this guy doesnt get arrested on the spot is mind blowing! The cops will be suspended or fired for not doing enough and this story making it as big as it has.

This is absolutely correct. I don't see how "stand your ground" has come under such fire in this case because it doesn't apply in the slightest. Stand your ground deals with protecting yourself without retreating first. Zimmerman was in pursuit. Completely different.

Now if Martin had shot Zimmerman, "Stand your ground" would apply since Zimmerman was coming after Martin.

I could be wrong but I believe a grand jury has been convened in order to determine if there is enough evidence to prosecute him. People that are protesting and whatnot need to calm down and allow the judicial system to work.

That being said, in the court of public opinion, he's already been found guilty. It's going to be tough for him to get a trial in front of an impartial jury now.

Guilty till proven innocent. I wouldn't want to be in his shoes right now and live down there and add to that all the outside pressures the state of Florida is getting with folks threatening state wide boycotts of the tourist industry, boycotts of the orange industry, boycotts of the cruise lines down there and you have a state that is running scared so justice probably will be the first casualty in this case. It's getting real ugly real fast. All we are getting is hear say and rumors. If he is guilty, well he deserves what the law gives him. Till then I'm going to try and stay neutral. However if it turns out this kid was also gay that was killed I say fry the basturd. (joking) The law should treat everyone equally no matter race, creed, sexual orientation, color, etc.

---that's because the dude claimed self-defense---and had marks on his face and dirt and grass on his back (must have been some kinda scuffle).

The cops are NOT that dumb (jesus...i know they are dumb---but not that dumb).

Anyway---kid probably probably got smart with the Watch Patrol dude----he told the kid to shut-up----kid probably took a pop at him---and they rolled to the ground when the gun came out. That's probably what happened. Cops don't just let someone go when there is a dead body nearby.

Also, this Dude can't be charged if there were "no witnesses"---and the only evidence is a phone call saying i see someone suspicious in the hood. Its not illegal to follow someone---and its not illegal to talk to someone.

Prosecutor is gonna have one hell of a time convicting this dude if there is no evidence (other than a scuffed up face and dirt and grass on the back of the perp). Gotta come up with something more than this.

Of course the kid might have mouthed off to him, the douche was stalking him. Keep following me around and I'll get in your face too. The guy has a proven track record of being a racist fvck and was more than likely talking shit to the kid. It was murder. Cold blooded and he'll most likely it again. I'm sure he knew the law which is why he made sure no one else was around. So in Florida all you have to do is follow someone you don't like until you're alone and shoot them? He followed the kid. He caused the incident.

maybe the kid did get smart. Maybe he didnt and was trying to run away and the guy tackled him. Thats where the grass stains and scratches came from.
The kids gf told him to run. He said he was going to walk faster. You hear the kid screaming for help. Nobody knows exactly what happened but to me that is more believable .

---interesting----I wonder if they have enough from a recorded phone call to charge him with a crime?

    Me thinks they need more.

    Sad ...fvckin sad.

BTW...Its not against the law to follow someone through the neighborhood in which you live. That is not stalking...especially in your capacity as a Neighborhood Watch Guard.

Although i must say...it was poor judgement to walk after this kid. He was not committing a crime.

but he wasnt a Neighborhood watch guard. From everything i heard it was a self appointee position. He wasn't in an actual group. And is it illegal to follow someone after the 911 dispatcher tell you not too?

    Don't know...but its a fvckin Sad Case.

If the courts pursue this...Zimmerman would probably walk on Murder...but may get a conviction on Negligent Manslaughter---but that wouldn't right either if he was defending himself.

You have to look at the "totality of the case."

Two destroyed lives over a Communication issue.

Zimmerman shouldn't have pursued that kid...but its not against the law to follow someone...nor defend yourself.

Agreed. Look at the size difference between the "accused" and the kid. Not too many out there that'll smart off to someone twice their size.

Look at the 911 call this issue alone. Several racial slurs. Look at the numerous calls before. All regarding "menacing blacks in the neighborhood." To me...that's racism or profiling at the least.
