can anyone solve the mistery?
Your in a jewlers and you see a watch you like it costs £97.
You dont have the money to buy it so you borrow £50 off your mother and £50 pounds off your father which make £100
You buy the watch and get £3 change
You then give your mother £1 and your father £1 back and keep £1 for yourself
You now owe your mother £49 and your father £49
£49+£49=£98+ the £1 that you kept =£99 but where is the mising £1

Good one. I've worked it about 15 times now with different totals borrowed and change given back and kept with the only common number being the 97 cost for the watch, and there is missing money somewhere. So it has to have something to do with the 97 price tag

The isn't anything missing
borrowed 50 + 50 = 100
change from watch 100-97 = 3
returned to each parent 1 quid 50-1=49
debt 2(49)= 98
quid you kept plus watch 97+1 = 98
money you owe minus watch and quid 98 - 98 = 0
see gained nothing. This is an old school riddle.Last edited by Honkey_Kong; 04-03-2012 at 05:38 PM.
