Man that's a tough 1. As I'm sure you are aware we really do need some good cops. The only problem is I think a lot of cops starting out good but get corrupt because of the system.
The good ones I have spoke to say it's almost impossible for a cop just a good the way things are set up to nowadays. I'm sure it's not impossible though and you could definitely be an asset to the company and warso to the community.
The club scene I'm sure has its corruptions but also you probably have a lot better chance of moving up quicker and building your reputation where is you can soon make some real money if that is the main goal.
If it was me and the goal was money I would choose the club. Even though it starts out as lesser money I believe he can go up a lot quicker then if you were a police officer. If your passion is more to serve and protect then I would choose the police officer.
Also if you ever have any political type goals or aspirations in the future then the police officer would be the best choice.

Police Officer any day of the week man. You have any idea how bad it is to be a cop! you can get into any club/bar/strip club for free just by showing your badge and thats just the beginning. And you can crack some skulls when you need to

Go with the club.
Well i dont know the area of Maryland so kinda hard to give a full opinion. You passed the NJ test does Maryland have their own test?
If you take the job serous at the casino you can meet a lot of people. And having a good network of people is more important then test results or a good resume. Alot of people bounce older then you. Alot of places wont even hire someone as young as you are. Dont look at yourself as a bouncer and dont act like one there. You are management. Big difference.
Also the pay may not be as good but you know as head of security in AC there is some extra cash to be madeLast edited by gixxerboy1; 04-20-2012 at 02:31 PM.
If people can't tell your on steroids then your doing them wrong

I already knew this was going to come from you even before you posted it, I knew you never let a cop in for special treatment considering you hate them and were a bouncer. We have a difference of opinion on those who wear the shield. The dude went to school to be a cop, so he does no hate them. I respect anyone who wears the shield. Its the cops that have been around for years that have the bad atitude. Fresh boots from school are good guys that just want to have a good job and do a good thing. They are very underpaid. If we didnt have cops there would be massive crime with no one to stop it.

x2...I've had most of fights with cops or active military guys. I remember one time last year, this 50+ year old state troop started shit, I think he took a swing at Haz and another guy in the club - I remember Haz choked him out and ripped his blazer in half (which was mine that I lent him) then I tee'd off him for a couple seconds and what's the first thing he does outside? Pulls out his badge and tells everyone how hes going to get the place shut down. Yeahhhh okay buddy. The place is still running and you got manhandled- have a nice night

You going to hate that job in atlantic city for a few reason...biggest reason...its atlantic city. that place is foul and disgusting...your going to be inside a dirty smoky casino for your life. Ever seen casino staff? They all look like death and reek of it. At least as a cop in maryland you could be Boston PD and get in shootouts with robbers haha like that movie The Town.
Casino Staff..dead end job seems like, a Cop a career and doing a good thing.

If you have the opportunity to live rent free and get out of debt then I would suck it up and do security for a year and then re-evaluate when you're debt free.

club
1) you will get out of debt faster
2) in the end you will probably make more $$
3) Can meet more important people and build a network
4) its not maryland
5) you can always do the cop thing when NJ is hiring.
6) Getting out of debt is hard to do. And i dont see that happening living on yuor own in maryland making 42kIf people can't tell your on steroids then your doing them wrong

I would do the club thing, and get out of debt before I bought a new car. Drive the shitty one for a few more miles.
New town, job, rent, and debt. No thanks

are you in it for the money or for some ideal that you have in your mind about doing good???
Doesn't really matter, unless you have a masters degree in criminal justice you'll be a cop for ever..
My suggestion is take the #2 job and continue on with your education, get some experience and then when you are in a better position you'll be able to make an informed decission..
6 yrs LE... OSI, K-9, and Nuclear..
become a US Marshall... that's the adventure, and the $$$... your masters can be in CJ, but accounting would be a better avenue and more employable by many more agencies..
but that's just my 1st hand experience..Last edited by spywizard; 04-20-2012 at 03:19 PM.

My opinion is coming from a Canadian Point of View + slightly biased, and I'm not entirely sure of the American LE system. Regardless, I'd go with the second choice. You will make friends and have strong networking as already previously mentioned. I've never met a cop I haven't wanted to kill. My $0.02
Cop are useless in Canada.
