Traveling next week and I know the best bet is to mail to yourself, but curious if anyone has any experience (successfully) packing gear in your checked luggage. Phone search didn't come up with anything definitive or provide much clarity on traveling without a script.

I guess it depends on how much and what you are taking......I put orals in checked bags.......just mixed them in with my Aleve bottle and never had a problem. Did it at least 6 times. Once I even had a TSA flier saying my bag was searched (I had put my laptop in there) and my bottle of Aleve was still there with the orals. Note they will ALWAYS search your checked baggage if there are any types of electronics, Laptops etc. in it. So if you are checking your gear.....make sure you just have clothes and toiletries in the there. I've never tried to take needles/vials etc so I cant speak to that, but I think you would be ok with a small amout. Wrap them up tight in your socks.....or better yet some dirty underwear.....them won't want to touch that if your bag gets hand searched...(it likely won't)

i fly with all the time. I bring it my carry on. never been questioned. Im a diabetic sometimes i may have 100syringes in my bag. Never been questioned once

I have done orals before and just put them in a vitamin bottle, had no problems. I have friends that fly all the time for work and took 10ml bottles of gear in checked bags and had no problems but I'm not sure about the needles.

It would be a small amount. I would prefer to preload as opposed to taking the vials but I'm skeptical about bringing opened needles (I'm sure I could get them from a pharm). Orals I'm not too worried about. As you said I'll just put them in the aspirin bottle. AI, etc I always carry in my toiletry bag. A little nervous but I think I'm going to go for it.

Yeah just get the needles from the pharm, my buddy does it all the time. He works 20 on 2 weeks off so he flys twice a month and he take vials so. What are you tryin to take with you orals or vials?

i wouldnt do pre filled pins. If they are seen they will look suspicious. Needles arent illegal. You can fly with them.
depends on what state. Lots of states they arent over the counter

Yeah that's true, I know in Alberta a lot of place just have a big rack and you pick out the kind to want.

I just worry that, even though needles aren't illegal, they may find more motivation to search if they find them. I don't know.

Just get a few bars of modeling clay molded into larger bricks and stick it inside. Wrap the ends of the bricks with wire and some tinfoil and a couple D cell batteries. That should throw off any scans

Just get some insulin pins, they work in a pinch. Just get the biggest they have. They wont turn you dont for slin pins.

yes they will. I was up there for christmas in 2010. I got stuck up there because of the blizzard and ran out of pins. I dont have a script because the state i was living in didnt require one. It took 10 pharmacies before i could find one that would sell me some slin pins. And i had shown them my slin and they all knew airports were closed and i was out od state. They wont break the laws
