What makes you be fit?
Just been thinking about this shit for a while for the GF. She is kinda ticking me off here. . . When she got pregnant she blew the fvck up, now she lost some weight but not really much.
It's not healthy to say the least. We both have gym memberships. Me = I am trying my best to get to a very solid physique over a period of time, it just makes me feel better. She goes to the gym and kills herself at least 3-4 days a week then eats total garbage. WTF gives man? She follows my bulking diet, what kind of shit is that?
I been on my self fitness shit for almost a decade now. I know I am not the super swole stud I would love to be. But, I am not doing bad at all. I have goals and I try to set plans to achieve those goals. The shape I am in now at the age of 31 is still better than I ever have been before(well after I lose this 20 pounds). I'm the most muscular and stronger than I ever have been then some.
WTF makes a person want to be fit & in shape? She looks around and wants to be the "fit chick" but just doesn't put 2 & 2 together. That it takes a certain amount of work to get there.

i dont mean this bad. But you say you are 20lbs over weight and are bulking. So maybe she is looking at you. That your not ripped and still eating what ever.
If people can't tell your on steroids then your doing them wrong

Maybe, it is the fact that she sees I eat a bit of shit. But, I don't eat bad. Not that bad at least, 90% of all of my carbs have been from oats and brown rice.
Also a guy that weighs over 200Lbs can tolerate a bit more garbage eating than I female that is meant to be 130.

Be honest with her. Ask her what her goals are and give her sound nutrition advice. Let her know you believe she can do it (if her goals are consistent with what yours are for her, that is) and offer to be her 'trainer'. Write a nutrition plan for her.
Different people find different forms of motivation. Some are self motivated, some motivated by others, and some are not motivated at all and may never be.
Getting in the gym doesn't seem to be the problem right? It's getting the diet straight. Maybe pull up some nutritional threads on here and print them for her.

It's time for you to cut cycle.. then she'll follow that.. you can't expect her to be so in tune with you and you on a bulk she not following..
so do a cut diet.. you'll be better off anyway..
besides sounds like you do the meal planning, you can always add more (sneak) food for youself, just more of what needs to be on a cut, works for me and mine..Last edited by spywizard; 06-02-2012 at 12:19 PM.

Yeah, maybe start putting up posters of fitness models in your bedroom, or in you office, hell even have them as your phone background image... and maybe she'll get jealous and start starving herself and applying fake tanner. Shit, you should just go ahead and sharpie all the back of your t-shirts to say "I love goats". Yeah.. that's it.

It sounds like she is just doing whatever you are doing. If you're bulking then she's going to bulk what it sounds like. The idea of bulking to somebody with minimal knowledge on fitness is an amazing idea. Think about it, you eat whatever you want and as much as you can and lift weights? Who doesn't like that idea. Granted obviously eating whatever you want wouldn't be ideal for the more serious individual but to somebody not so serious, it just sounds like a good time. If she has no knowledge on the subject then she probably has no clue what's going on. I have a ton of friends who arn't that serious, they go to the gym 3-4 times a week and eat whatever they want, and there happy with that. If that's what they want then who am I to tell them otherwise?
If she really wanted to cut and get serious then she would probably be reading and researching herself or asking you what to do. If she's not, then she just probably doesn't care that much and is content with the way things are.

I totally believe that fitness should be a commitment between two people, like if I am fit and in good shape then there is no reason the wife can't put in the same work and make it happen, I agree on doing a cut if she doesn't follow you on a cut then she probably won't do it and if you have to cheat do it out of her sight so she has no excuse to eat bad

seems gf was "lucky" before baby and didn't have to work out hard or eat clean??? not sure, but seems based on your answers.
seems that those little darlings steal a woman's health. gals are made different and it isn't as easy for most gals to loose weight cuz we carry more bf, less muscle
if u love this gal, let her know that u are concerned about both your healths, acknowledge that we both should be healthy for the baby and to give yourselves a chance to have health later in life....be sweet
if your gf is open to join, help her get on forum with her own account and post her diet in the nutrition forum. really nice folks will help her out, but in the end it is her choice. You can't want it more then her.

Best thing you can do is cut your 20lbs of fat and that will inspire her to eat better. Take the lead and shop and get all the unhealhty foods out of the house. A man leads by example.

For me it started out like most kids, I was 14 and inspired to have muscles to look better and attract girls. I knew I was not going to be Mr. GQ. I was not tall, handsome or rich but I had 1/2 decent genetics so I knew I could get into shape fairly easy and did. This lasted into my mid 20s when I got injured and then sick. I stayed in OK shape until my mid 30s when I started to slowly gain weight but nothing excessive. Once I reached 45 and had my 2nd back surgery I knew it was due to being out of shape, 5' 8" 210 lbs and not working out for 10+ years at any consistency and if I did not get into shape I would end up in a wheel chair soon.
Right after the surgery I made the decision to get back into shape and spent the next 4 years getting into shape and looking better and feeling better than I had in 20+ years until my last bout with injuries forcing me to stop working out but I have managed to maintain a lot of what I had without falling back into the old ways of getting fat and lazy to the point I was before and will continue to work through it until I can work out with the intensity I did before the injuries but it will take time.
So to make it short either I work out and stay in shape so I can have some quality of life or I end up in a wheel chair and give up on life.
A person has to do it because they want to and they like themselves otherwise it will never happen.

Well, easy solution is don't bother her about it and start cutting yourself, and when you eat extra don't do it around her. Women tend to eat like the people they are around a lot, skinny chick starts hanging out with a fat chick, over time that skinny chick usually puts on some weight. I was bulking and dating my wife and told her if she kept eating like me she would gain a ton of weight, she just thought i was being rude, but tried to explain i was bulking, anyways after she gained 10 lbs and realized i was trying to help her she stopped eating just like me.

I predict mcdonald's. Anyways, some women just don't care and eat and eat and get sloppy. its a touchy subject with women I know. But you can't force it on her, and you can't put to much pressure but she needs to know you care for her no matter what but you have to let her know you don't like the direction she is headed. Might end badly but I'm no expert on this one, my wife gained some weight form first child and I tried not to push anything on her and she came around on her own. Although her work outs were stupid as crap and less effective, and couldn't get her to do decent training, i guess it was better than nothing cause she lost weight.

Only time will tell I guess, she was in pretty good shape before. I just understand how she doesn't care. I was mad fit when we first got together and she was hitting the gym regularly. I got her a membership and offer to baby sit, she's gone one time in almost 2 weeks < Maaaaaan.

Some women really change after child birth. They use it as an excuse to get lazy and not care. Also they know they have you now and it's 100x harder for you to just walk away. Most women being in shape is motivated by what they need to do to attract Mr. right. Single women/girls tend to try to look good, diet, exercise etc, get married and balloon up, get divorced and diet down again.
You need to sit her down and lay it out for her. Tell her how you feel and ask her if she cares or not. If she does not care then you have to figure out your next move but some women need a wake up call and told NO, you can not be like that or No, you wont put up with the poor behavior. It's just part of tough love and being honest.
Seriously I have told mine that if she got FAT and it was not due to something medical or something out of her control my eyes will be doing a lot of looking elsewhere. She got up to almost 109 lbs not long ago but is back down to 105 now. lol She was 99 for quite a while but 105 is more healthy for her and maybe even 110 lbs if she tones up more with muscle.

Well, this is the worst thing I heard for a long time. Sounds dead on and that's why it sucks the most. When she was knocked up she was just swearing up and down that she will try her best to lose weight as soon as she is able to. Not just for me but for her own health, that's when I got her a gym membership. . . . Now, she does nothing.
