We do O_O 0-60 in 2.3 seconds and 0-100 in 4.9 seconds O_O IT IS BEAUTIFUL! I got to fix one up for a customer to put on the high speed gearing and downforce generators to keep it on the ground at that speed.

you blokes are OBVIOUSLY talking in terms of scale and proportionality. things always get stronger/quicker the smaller they become. No surprise there.

like the exoskeleton of insects...which cannot be reproduced at man-size.
but toys are fun too, in a toy way...

I used to be really into rocketry when I was younger; spent a lot of time in places like that getting supplies. I always wondered how much hobby stores have suffered since kids became glued to a glowing screen. On good days the rocket would go so far you couldnt see it and on the best days it would blow up.

Huh? My truck does a full 60mph not scale speed. The XO-1 does 100mph true speed not scale speed. Btw these are not considered toys but hobby grade products that are fully repairable and just as easily customized as a real car. The electric motor I have in there maxes out at 6hp, it is an electric brushless system running 22.2volts. Some of the nitromethane 2 stroke powered vehicles we have max out at 4.5hp. I also have a 48inch wingspan biplane running a 20CC gasoline 2 stroke engine running a 18x6inch prop which can pull unlimited vertical and hit speeds of 60mph+.

It really isn't a toy. When something can hit speeds of over 100mph on ground and over 300 mph (turbine jet r/cs) it is not a toy. You need a license to fly the planes and insurance as well (which the license fee takes care of). You can severely injure, maim, or kill someone with these. In a sense yes they are toys, but at the same time some of these require that you sign a waiver of liability with the company to unlock their full power, which is kinda scary.

I used to do that shit with my dad on the weekends a lot. It is kind of sad how things have progressed. I don't see too many hobby stores around anymore. I know the RC airplanes still have their following (which can cost so much, learning to fly a real airplane can be cheaper).

This is what I get to do for 50 hrs a week, not sure if you will be able to click on the link, you might need to copy and paste to google search.
Ironworking video by steelmonkey720 on Photobucket
media.photobucket.com/video/ironworking/.../Ironworkers.mp4?o...
This is how I have been able to stay in shape and at almost 40 can run circles around the average 20 yr old, its also the reason my forearms are the same size of my arms.

oh, nice toy car.

This is what I get to do 40 hrs a week 3 days a week, the other 4 days I have off.
Pretty much, 99% of the time if I'm online, here posting its because I'm at work.
OK fine, I also go to the gym for 1 - 1 1/2 hrs, take naps, eat a lot and do other surfing the net.
A buddy at work has an RC car like that except when he punches it, it will literally do back flips. Fast little MoFo. Mine are old school, 15+ year old but fast in the day. We use to bring them to work and race around also.

Dude you have the best jobs ever. You get paid to race RC cars and then you got a job where you get paid to go on the internet and post on steroid sites. It's a little late for me to grow up to be you, but shit....

The only down side is they frown on watching porn at work. If we could do that it would be the perfect job. lol Yeah the pay aint bad either, I have broke 100k last 2 years both with 1+ month off due to injury. So far so good this year so I'm hoping to break $110K+ now only if I didnt spend it quicker than I make it....

All my posting is done at work while working usually. A big part of my job is out of the office, and sometimes I have to go in to work at 3 am. But normally I work 4 10s. I don't break 100k yet, but if I don't within 10 years I will have changed jobs or be doing so somehow.

My gandfather flew real planes and the model/rc planes. He would build the models from scratch, they are just as technical as the real thing. All the moving parts, gas engine, you name it. I have flown both real and model planes alot and I can tell you the models are 100 times harder to get skilled at. Biggest reason is in a plane you can go by feel as to if your level, etc. On the models its all sight and hard as hell. Him and his hobby/pilot buddies definately did not see them as toys. It was an obsession, building, engineering, adding cameras/video, attaching gliders, you name it. I dont have time for it but maybe whn im retired..

I've flown a few model planes. And agree it is pretty hard, would like to eventually get my pilots license. Two of my uncles and my grandfather owned planes, one uncle died cause of a malfunction after take off and still relatively low. I flew a couple model planes, and some were fairly easy, but like you said its sight and not feel, and things happen really fast on those small little things. I only crashed once cause it was this piece of junk plane that the motor died at the sand dunes, so I had to land it where it was at on the sand, almost made it into the clearing but landing gear caught on a sage brush plant wahtever they are called, and it was the last plant before the clearing i was trying to get to, ripped off the landing gear, and bottom board. Had a bolt come out of the exhaust manifold on the other plane and it had enough power to get to a landing point but not enough to take off again. Yes I was flying junk planes, and the one was so weak to begin take off was really difficult and had to do it slow. Those are the only model planes I have flown, but really easy to get the hang of and do tricks.
Handled controls on a real plane but never took off or landed. I can't imagine it being something your semi intelligent average person couldn't learn.

I had a traxxis truck when I was around 13. It was gas powered and pretty expensive.
It was fun for about a year.
Then I got to highschool and it sat in my garage until I sold it for some extra money around 18.
They are a little more advanced and much more expensive than most toys but I would still put it in that category. I also consider video game consoles and many other things toys. Toys are not just for kids.
It can be a fun hobby for some. Others will never see past it simply being a remote controlled car. My buddies dad owned a hobby shop and sold many models of high powered remote controlled vehicles. He and his son had some very expensive and fast vehicles.
Its not something someone should be ashamed of. Many grown men still build model cars and airplanes as a hobby which are essentially just advanced packaged toys like hotwheels. Some will never see it as more than that

I use to build a lot of model gas powered planes as a kid. 049 U control and even larger gas engine with steel lines. I built a lot of my own design also and a lot of repairing them after crashing during stunts.
I flew RC planes for a while later in my teens but never got really good at it, only a few successful flights without something going wrong or crashing when landing.
I have a voucher for a free flight lesson I need to use one of these days. I wanted to be a pilot as a kid and planned on joining the AF or Navy but a serious eye accident at 10 changed all that.
I'm not sure how I had time as a kid to build models and such, I dont seem to have time to do much of anything anymore. Getting old sucks. lol

Yeah man I think everyone into them spends more time fixing than flying, lol. My grandpa and all his buddies did. I want to get my piolts license too. Dont have it. I grew up in the country and we had a grass airstip at our house that my father and grandfather flew from. So I learned how to fly-take off land, loops, rolls, stallouts, etc with them as a kid. Definately anyone can learn if you have some smarts and the desire!!! On the models I suck, could never keep them straight, always overcompensated on the controls.
