Touring or whitewater? Stillwater or ocean? I've never whitewatered out west, but i've done the touring version in a variety of bays...some of which were great.

I've gone up and down pretty much every river in Texas.

The Lano was by far the most beautifull scenery with the best camping spots.

    Guatalupe for action though

how good are you? I know several class V rivers in cali, there are also some good ones in Ore and Colorado - and lest we forget the Grand Canyon (really worth doing - make sure you take a day just to stay at some of the biggest rapids to run and rerun them)
