Good to know what he can expect with the process. Heard it was pretty painful. I'll be first in line to donate marrow if I have to.

He's in stage 4. I'm just numb and dizzy right now. He has to undergo a very aggressive chemo process for 6-10 weeks which has a 60% chance of working. Then, assuming it works, stem cell marrow transplant is a must. That has a 50% chance of working.

If it doesn't they try another method of treatment but it's not good. I'm at work right now and have to keep it together

Thank you guys for the continued thoughts and prayers. It was an extremely long and tough day. So many things to think about and deal with and having to keep it together at work was a challenge.

The support you all have shown just by being here, providing links and input, and allowing me to vent has been so helpful you can't even imagine.

One step at a time. He's got to get through this.

I have some PMs I'm going to answer tonight. Thanks again to everyone.

    Appreciate it AG.

Update on Dan: he had his chemo port surgically installed yesterday and began treatment today. He's going through another form of chemo that is more aggressive and he has to do it for 3 days consecutively and then several days off and then goes back, etc. He'll do this twice before he gets a PET scan to see if it's working, and then, assuming it is, he'll go in for more treatment.

Around March or April, again assuming the chemo is effective, he'll be hospitalized for up to two months at a cancer center a couple hours away from where he lives for a full stem cell bone marrow transplant. Not sure yet whether or not he'll need a cell donor.

I really appreciate all the PMs asking for updates and with well wishes for him. He's a tough kid and doing well so far. He'll beat it.

G, my mom is worried sick and doesn't do a great job in hiding it. She's texting all day about things and articles she wants me to read she's just 500 miles a minute over this. She always gets sad that we live so far away as it is, and this just magnifies things to the extreme. I've gotten a little frustrated with her but I understand what she's feeling. Both of her sons are gone (I've been gone since 15yo and Dan for the past 6 years). It's a lot to absorb, and she's handing it the best she can. Every time I get on the phone with her she cries. I mean every single time. Even if we have a completely normal conversation, when it's time to hang up, she cries. I feel terrible for her and what she's going through.

I'm holding up well. I'm busy as hell all week and most weekends so I've had my moments I think. Now I'm just taking to him everyday and making sure I'm doing what I can. It's hard, but you reach a point where you have to decide how you're going to handle it and then you have to do it. Personally, I can't be a wreck for too long. Too many people watching and depending on me.. Wife, mom, kids, even my dad.

Thanks for asking about my mom, I didn't realize I had so much to say about her.

Find a little time for.yourself, Igi. Even if it's 5 minutes here and there and find a way to release some.of what you are dealing with. If you can't get to the gym, go beat the hell out of a tree, swing a sledge, split firewood or something.
I know it is heartbreaking yet also frustrating trying to keep your mother calm. Going from experience with my mother, I would say she is just scared and doesn't know what to do with the fear. The only way she can express it is through frantic texts, etc.
    Still praying, Igi!

Exactly right AG. I think a big part of it is that she's just squirming with worry and things like that are her only output. I'm definitely being supportive and I'm grateful for this outlet here and for you guys listening.

We're expecting a sh*t ton of snow all weekend so that will be some good exercise. Also I'm sure the water feeds will freeze at the farm so we'll have to go chip then up which is typically requires an ax

Dan is going in today for the last of his first round of chemo. He's feeling ok so far but was told to expect to feel pretty sh*tty starting Saturday or so.

Thank you for the prayers, my friend.

Its stuff like this that quickly puts perspective on life when we are having a pity party. That's why you don't hear me batching too much. I have plenty I could go on about but it's all trivial compared to stuff like this.

I've still got your brother, you and your family in my thoughts and prayers Iggy.

Snowmagetton is coming man. Thanks RC, he gets a few days off now but needs to go in tomorrow to do something with this pump he has to wear and stays plugged into his chemo port. Looks like a giant game boy. Has something to do with his white blood cell count.

He also has to wear this patch kind of thing that actually injects him with a 5 second warning if his white blood cell count gets too low.

He's cracking jokes about it so that's good.

Thanks jimmy. Listen we all have stuff going on in our lives that that we go through and causes us stress and pain. It's good to put things in perspective sometimes, but we all have things that we care about. Really appreciate the kind words and well wishes Jim. As rough as it is, it's incredible to have the support.

Thank you G! He's in good spirits today but sounds beat. When I asked him how he felt he kind of paused and said, like I just had 3 days of chemo.

Glad he gets a little break now.

Thanks again. He says it just feels a little foggy is how he described it. He has nausea pills but has only take one so far. I'm sure it will hit him harder as he continues but grateful he's in good spirits today.

Things are going good, G. He's getting ready for round 2 coming up pretty soon. After he's done there, he'll get a PET to check for progress.

He says the pills for nausea don't help a bit, so that sucks, but he has an alternative that helps him a lot. My mom is going down next week and will spend a couple weeks with him during chemo.

Thank you for asking and hope you're doing well!
