You know, when you see some bloke for the first time, and ya just know he's GAY. So I thought it would be nice to put together a list of traits that can help others quickly identify your orientation. So, in the spirit of helpfullness, let me start the ball rolling..........

Guys.....I'm not trying to rock the boat here or come across as all "politically-correct", but wait just one minute.

Earlier today Razor was suspended for making an off the cuff remark in which he used an apparently slanderous and offensive term directed at a "troll". While I don't condone the use of the term nor offending members of this forum, aren't we dangerously close to a double standard here? Razor made a singular comment and was nailed to the proverbial cross, yet there are multiple threads directed at sexual orientation (i.e. "gay") here with numerous responses and no recourse from admin? Moreover, how is any of this related to physical fitness, body building, nutrition, etc?

Times Roman recently posted a thread "I'll say this once" in which he WISELY cautioned the membership about derogatory comments leveled at race, gender, orientation, etc yet here we are bashing the gay community on this very thread. In all fairness to Razor, how is this permissible? I'm not condoning his earlier language, but I think you are being unfair to him by holding him to a higher level of accountability that what I'm seeing here.

Believe me, I am a smart ass and practical joker and love to have fun (work hard, play harder is my mantra) but I think if we are going to demand a standard of ethical behavior for one member it needs to apply to all.

Hopefully this comment won't get me suspended, or start a backlash but I don't see the fairness in suspending one member for an isolated comment when entire threads are started that come dangerously close to offending some members. Would it be any more acceptable to start a thread asking female members about their favorite sexual position? I'm pretty sure that would be just as taboo.

Which is worse? Which is better? A singular comment or an entire thread? Would you condone a malicious comment made at one person of color more than an entire thread directed at an entire race of color?

As I said, I don't agree with his (Razor's) comment but I don't follow the logic in permitting entire "anonymous" threads that offend an entire population when a singular offensive comment is decreed as taboo.

NO one is blasting anyone, there are guys with pics of guys(gay) in this thread contributing to the humore in it not bashing. Lighten the fuc up dude. I'ts a joke. Go pick apart the new healthcare bill or something else.

Additionally, there is an off board cummunication system goiing on here. I have had countless conversations with some of our gay community here, and not to speak on behalf of the community, but I can say from the conversations i've had, there is a friendly ribbbing going on that may not be evident at the board level. In fact, I've gone "guns ablazing" at members that have been derogatory in a malicious way towards that community. And I have been thanked for doing so, privately, off board. We've had some really extreme posts against gays, and I and others are there trying to stop that nonsense, immediately, and without prejudice.

I constantly have blokes jabbing at me for my age and such. And that is totally cool. Really. In fact, I often times start the ribbing.

But this is quite different than some of the activity where rule #3 was violated.

Sometimes you have to look not at what is being said, but how it is being said. It is called the "spirit" of the conversation, and if it turns malicious towards any particular member, then watch out!

regarding the sexual position comment, if in the lounge, as long as it doesn't violate the rules, i don't see why it would be any reason to suspend anyone. But... threads like that, as I have personally learned (by starting a few) quickly go off the deep end and sometimes result in some that may cross the line.

this is an awareness issue. feel free to goof around in the lounge. but be respectful of our members and our rules.
