No Sturgis this year for me
Just got back from a motorcycle club party in Ohio. Had the Sturgis like party feel to it.

Seems doubtful i'm going this year. thought it would be nice to go, especially if the overseas project happens, then that would be the last time i get to go for many years....

Have not been out there since 2007. Keep letting the wife and kids block me. I even paid for a share in a house 2 years ago and had to back out. Luckily I sold my share and did not lose the cash.
This year I'll be in south america that week so I am definitively out.

When do you find out if you are shipping out again?

I got a brief update the other day. was told that the financing for the pakistan piece is going through. if true, then I'll be gone at the end of the year.

I may make street vibes. I typically prefer to go to Virginia city, even if my hotel isn't there. btw, anyone stay at the new hotel complex they put in a few years ago?

We have a local radio personality who goes every year. His name is Johnny Dare of 98.9 FM But I know the place is packed so chance of you knowing him are slim. Anyhow have a great time. I would go but prefer to keep healthy and in one piece.

It's surprisingly non violent. I went a few years back, and during that whole time, with almost a million bikers in attendence, considering all the booze and drugs that must have bbeen consumed there, the only thing of note on the police blotter that week was a stabbing on a bus. Statistically, much much less than a comperable city of the same size.

I was at the chip, and people were walking around naked at night, talking, shoooting the shit. there was even a vendor selling sex toys inside the camp ground. There was aloot of sex going on, and, oh, the stories i could tell..........

I've never made it out to sturgis, I really want to, I'm in BC Canada, its a pretty long hull for me. I use to build custom choppers, and Exile cycles was one of my suppliers, and Russle Mitchell actually invited me and the guys from my shop to go with them to sturgis, that would have been cool, just wasn't in the cards for me then. One day.

1500 miles mate, same as me. Last time, popped the woman on the back, and took a nice three days to arrive. And here's the cool part. All the harley's seem to be going in the same direction, so you actually meet other bikers on the way, going there. So you hook up with them and ride together. Met two other couples that way. Very cool

yeah, that looks like the beginning of a good time. but the sun is still up (almost) and the real action don't start til everyone gets lit and it gets dark out. after midnight, it's almost pornographic in some areas of the camp ground

I was at the Nugget a few years back (a local chapter hangout up in the hills). we were all getting lit, 80% of the bar was patching, and I was running the pool table. beat 3 or 4 of their blokes in a row. so i decided to give it a rest, and gave my stick to someone else. this other guy told me "you can't leave the table unless you lose???" Really? (I think he was joking). So I shanked the next game. BFD

HA is like any other biker group so I see botb points. We had a bunch ride into my old work last year. Some were super cool and easy to talk with, others were like warchild said and just wanted to come across as the biggest badass around and want their presence known. Granted I would act cool to all of them, but some I didn't care to ever speak with again.

usually, it's when the club is making money is when you find trouble makers. The clubs i bump into aren't running, and are pretty mellow.

another way of looking and gauging, is the location of it's HQ. Quite often, the membership is a reflection of the surrounding population. If the club is from a rough town, you are going to find rough members. But this is true with alot of things, not just MC clubs.

^^but then again, i don't wear a patch and therefore not a rival member.

true, some of them are a little arrogant. and yes, i probably give them more leeway than i would any regular scooter trash.

Most of the time you run into anyone part of any group like that and there will always be a few stand outs that have to be "tough guys" because they are trying to get patched in and or move up, so of you just steer clear of them Its PARTY TIME! Heh

I can see that opinion as a whole. I was just saying the ones I spoke with were not all bullies. Some were pretty cool, but also I imagine you gotta atleast have that bully mindset or personality in one way or another to join that group.

I just watched a documentary on your former prez Taco the other day.

I ran into a bunch on Mongrels an there way to what is now the "Famous River Run" in Laughlin. We were out in the Ca high desert at a truck stop shooting a commercial they were fueling up. We had a break and as a fellow rider I went up to them to check out their rides. I appreciate all bikes. They were cool, a couple busted my balls about riding a sportbike but I didn't take it seriously. I did get the sense that these are a group of guys that I dont think I'd want to be around when the booze starts flowing.

I was at a bar up in the hills, a place where the local chapter hangs out (HA). By the end of the evening, everyone there was a patch holder, except for my small group and a few others. Must have been 50 of them there. Very mellow. One of their women was even hitting on me a bit. She had these rose colored glasses, and this funny backward leather hat. I didn't know who she was with, so i didn't persue it. I went outside, and she even offered some smoke to me. I struck up conversations with several of the members, played several games of pool, won a couple of bucks, and stayed all night, til around, well, closing time i guess. there was not one time i felt like I shouldn't be there. had a great time.

Always wanted to go, just need to grow the balls to make that trek from Vancouver, bc. The main question is, what's the ratio like? I could see it being a sausage fest and when I go out of town the best part is pickin up randoms.

My cousin always stays at Glenco. He was talking it up and telling me stories of all the naked ladies and such. Combined that with what you see on Full Throttle Saloon and I expected the naked ladies to be smoking HOT. My cousin sent me a video and I swear the youngest fittest ladies were at least twice my age and I'm almost 40. Please tell me the women you speak of getting freaky in the chip and young and hot?

I've kinda come to the conclusion that the hot women are there for work. Please tell me I'm wrong.

Went to the Lynyrd Skynyrd concert there, at the chip. Easy 10% of all the chics were topless. as we were leaving, there was this topless chic, looked alot like (who was that hottie dating ellen degeneres before porsha?) and this other chic walks up to her and puts this big wet lip lock right on her strawberry nipple. so this chick lifts her arm, raising her breast up. the chick doing the sucking puts her arm around the first ones waist, moves her mouth from the nipple to this other chics mouth, making out deeply and passionately. I was walking, but slowed down to watch. my woman grabs my arm moving me along.....

they both looked about 30, and I thought they were pretty hot.

I am a little bias!!!LOL I am not saying you wont have a good time with them or any group. About a year ago I was on a job site and started talking to a tin knocker. We hit it off he was a cool guy he lifted and all sorts of stuff we had a lot in common by the end of the day he was asking me if I wanted to do some work on his house! long story short!!! He pulls his shirt down and shows me his Death Head tattoo and tells me he's an HA! So I pulled up my sleeve and showed him Who I was!!! I didn't wind up working on his house!!LOL But in another world we would have been best friends!!!

I won't mention the club, but i ride with a local MC from time to time. mostly a lot of old timers and hardcore wannabes. Anwayys, they were trying to get me interested in plebbing? They would bring it up every time i rode with this one bloke that's in the club. Being a member isn't attractive to me, especially at my age. Plus I refuse to be anybody's b1tch, bringing them their beers, etc. or having to wear a patch....

....i'm just not a joiner. I don't need to belong to something to feel secure or have a good time.

And what's up with this "mandatory" sh1t???? like what? they going to kick me ouut if i don't do as they ask?

and then I'm sitting there the table, and some guy younger than me starts talking to me, thinking he can "critique" my riding skills?? I'm like, dude, I've been riding a long time. Save your "critique" for someone that needs it, or can appreciate it; I've ridden further, longer, and in more places than you.....
