I feel your pain. Verizon is a lot of money. I was just talking to ink about running out of minutes. Its a bit more money but of you get the plan that is $20 more you get double minutes and friends and family. Hope that helps.

For not much more, I get unlimited talk and data with AT&T. Luckily, it's all covered in my expenses, so for me personally I can't beat the deal.

However, I found Verizon to be (currently) the best deal in my area for cable/ internet /land phone.

I've got Verizon as well. I pay 31.99 a month for my service. With all the damned taxes though it comes to 39.51. I get the 450 anytime minutes plus unlimited nights and weekends. Plus unlimited mobile to mobile. I don't have a data plan nor do I have texting so that's why mine is so cheap. But I only use it for the phone anyhow. I can't text and drive 100 mph without spilling my drink...lol But data and messaging is where all the companies gouge every one and how they rake in the millions. Just as you can see on your bill it starts out at 39.99 or so then you add data then you add messaging then you add protection service and so on till you are over 100 bucks a month and they are smiling all the way to the stock market...

250 for 5 lines, a line for me my wife, brother his wife, and another brother. So I am spending about 90 a month personally. It wouldn't be bad but everyone has data except me, paying 120 bucks just for data. And they just released their data shared plan, and honestly its ridiculous, its still 30 bucks a phone, only benefit is we would get unlimited minutes, but have to pay more and of course I would end up with data. I'm cheap though, my phone is four years old and everyone always takes my upgrades cause they are in such a hurry to get the latest phone. Now they have implemented an upgrade fee, I thought it was a joke at first. But where I live verizon is the only place that we can get good service. inlaws have no cell service at our house, I laugh at all my wife's siblings when they can't use their phone. well until they started hogging my bandwidth with their smartphones so i disabled my wireless modem, fvckers.

i don't know. i feel like i'm fighting the waves of the ocean on this issue. we got some kind of family plan for $80/mo. but my woman and son both have those crazy internet gadget things on their phone, for only $35/mo each. plus had to get my father in law a phone, right? only $10/mo more. and this is only for portable communication

now let's look at hard line communication systems coming into the house.

let's see, we have the comcast triple play for only $99/mo that actually costs $145/mo. add netflix, Xbox services, and viral protection for the laptop(s),

so my total communication package comes to over $300/mo.

I remember when the house had a party line phone for $8/mo, and the tv had rabbit ears. that's it!!!

"monthly payments" are the death of america!!!!

You can't cry that it's expensive when you have a lot of features (text/data). Its like buying a fully loaded BMW and crying about the payments every month. If you want to pay less then get a "dumb phone" and be done with it.

I have been with Verizon since 2 name changes before Verizon. I have also had sprint for a short time and currently have AT&T through work. I dont use my AT&T at all, to many drop calls, poor service. Sprint was just crap all the way around. I get a cooperate discount so that helps but it's still to much. Remember the days when it really was just $29 a month?
