A lesson in grammar
They're,Their,There
They're: (They Are) They're going to the mall
There: (Usually refers to a place) The book is over there.
Their: (Indicates possession) My classmates have lost their homework.
Two,To,Too
Two: (The number) I saw two lions at the zoo.
Too: (Can usually be replaced with Also) I like to play sports, too.
To: (Usually a Preposition before a noun) I want to go to the game.
Whose, Who's?
Who's (Who Is/ Who has) I never find a girl who's on the right track in life.
Whose (Possessive of who) Whose dog is this?
You're,Your
You're (You Are) You're going to call me later, right?
Your (Usually always followed by a noun) Is your mother okay?
Are, Our
Are (present tense of 'to be') We are happy.
Our (possessive form of we) Our friends did not invite us out tonight.
Sorry if I come off sounding like a dick, but there are sooo many members who do not know how to use those words properly, and it drives me nuts. I am not a scholar, but spelling and grammar are things that I try to be on point with.Last edited by Gaspari1255; 07-31-2012 at 09:54 PM.

this thread reminds me of two others...
1. the one that Roman started recently, about the average educational levels of users here.
2. the one that says to stop using the word "bro".

A lot of people clearly understand these basics. The problem lies in that they don't proof read their posts. It really is easy to use one of the others as you are quickly typing and not realize what you have done unless you read through it, and it becomes clear you made a mistake. I understand those basic rules, yet I still will read my own post and think wow idiot how did you get that wrong. Just a matter of typing, and your brain not caring about it the first time through. And how about a Fvck the grammar police?

everyone has thier /there/ theyre (lol) weakness... spelling and grammer are def mine ~ but hay, you can still read and understand what people are so saying, so why let something so trival on a BB site (this isnt a grammer coll class room board) get ya in such a tissey? lol ... dont know about other members, but I have ACTUAL stuff to fret over lol

The only thing I can hope for, is that most here do not write the way they do here, as they would in a business communication environment.
But....
....I've councilled my staff over the years many times over these issues.
To be honest, I see mistakes like these even on resumes, and this is an immediate "TD" (turn down)
