YE SHIWEN doping olympics. thoughts? (16 year old chinese girl)

so not only did she get the WR but she also beat the current male world record holder (Ryan Lochte) in the last 50m swimming the same style.

on top of that she improved 5 seconds on her time in the last year.

    she was 5'3 in 2011. now she's 5'8 tall

what are they giving these little chinese girls? must be some superhuman PEDs. thoughts?

I think she is young and had a very great development year. Probably great diet and great training and great amounts of youthful (natural) hormones.

Chinese 5'8" tall is unheard of especially for a female.

not really that rare, although you'll see a lot of these chinese girls at that height mostly on the fashion runway, not at the olympics.

btw, what gear, if any, do you guys think made her taller?

She might have a pituitary tumor that's causing her to grow But this is rather all offensive. Every time an athlete does great, we're going to accuse them of "doping?"

What if it was that manly looking American broad that did this and not some Chinese broad? Would we still be accusing her then?

There are even accusations of gene doping against this girl. Pretty insane performance though

If they're doing gene doping now, I want in. I'll let you guys know if it's safe.

But seriously though, I'm sick of people accusing others of some form of doping or cheating just because they do well. Hell even if she juiced out of her mind to train for the event, she still had an awesome performance. I'm certain almost every single one of us here still could never swim that well regardless of how much gear we use.

^ Haha yeah I'm keen too but it would be pretty expensive.

But yes props to her for her effort and dedication (unless if purely came from gene doping, then **** her lol)

Even if she gene doped, she still had to do it. She still had to be the best swimmer in the world to pull that off.

    Good call.

I'm sure it couldn't have anything to do with practicing 10+ hrs a day, never having a cheat meal, not seeing her family for months if not years at a time due to practice and being 100% committed. Nope, it must be the juice.

You didn't know? If you juice enough you don't even have to train to be the best.

This is all the media's fault. If they for once tried to do some honest journalism instead of some anti-gear sensationalism bullshit, gear wouldn't have such a bad rap. For sure, the public wouldn't be as conditioned to steal the moment from any athlete who does an amazing feat.

It all comes down to those who can't compete being jealous of those who can.

By the way, this thread probably should be in the lounge.

    Tony Robins had that condition.

Agreed...There is not a compound in the world that would grant you that result from just sitting on the couch eating potato chips. She is gifted and she trained hard.

I had a discussion last night with my wife about athletics and steroid use. It was disappointing how ignorant she was on the topic, and what she compared it to I won't even repeat cause it is embarrassing. Sadly this is probably how a lot of people think. And they legitimately think it is such a horrible thing and you are an immoral person because of it.

It's sad that people completely discredit someones work if they are found to use a performance enhancing substance.

What about in 2008 when phelps won all this medal (a lot) we didn't accuse him of doping. He did repeated insane performances.
And china is ridiculous on how athletes train over there

Unless they can prove otherwise they need to let it be. I feel sorry for her and others who thru dedication and hard work made it this far only to be called out as cheating. Besides aren't they all tested at the olympics in the first place to make sure every one is clean?

They test the top few athletes (I want to say top four) and a few of the field randomly after every event. Two athletes have been ejected from the games so far. One weight lifter and one female gymnast.

Holy crapola I did not know that. I just assumed they all got tested across the board for fairness. Well then I can understand that when an athlete stands out in an event it is suspect.

Yeah, i'm convinced just about every top level athlete has done something against the rules, and its more a battle against not getting caught. You know a ton of people dope in training etc, and do things that they know will clear there system till the last second. Maybe phelps realized he was sucking it up and last minute decided to add a little something, haha, unlikely cause who would want to get caught right after what he accomplished. Armstrong clearly doped, as did many others he competed against. A quote from him, "people ask me what I am on, I tell them, I am on my bike 6 hours a day." anyways thats my own words don't care to look up exact quote. Point is he works his ass off just as hard as everyone else does. Playing field is leveled as far as banned substances goes since everyone is doing something.

Call a spade a spade here, WADA is 10yr behind, Lance is only being caught now for fvck sake

Yes she trained full time from prob 6-8yr age the same as all the chinese ''athlethes'' table tennis, gymnastics etc

But is she natty? fvck no, no chance

I'll bump this in 10yr when it proved

Her performance was simply too good, if it too good to be true, then it is

Somebody mabe a comment about the tall chinamen, I was shocked when I seen a chinese basketball team, they 6ft plus, if that isnt something there then my name isnt Dan, I have never seen a tall chinaman, never seen a decent sized chinaman, yet these are 6ft plus, Dan smells bullshit

the thing about china is....its really big. and it has a HUGE population. and when you have such a huge gene pool, its almost certain that you'll find normal variations, and quite frequently, borderline "mutants". if you look at a bell-shaped curve of normal distribution, and look at both ends <5%tile and >95%tile, you will find all these people that you might call strange. not just very tall guys, but very short ones too. and if your population is that HUGE, these variants are a lot more numerous.

more than a few of those tall basketballers have already jump ship to play in the NBA. there are a lot more of those guys back there in china. maybe they're too patriotic to leave china, maybe they're too lazy to learn english... but just understanding how huge the population in china is will answer a lot of questions.

as for doping, we all know that without the right genes and training and diet and dedication, gear is just shit. ask the next 160lbs guy you see in the Q&A with 5 cycles under his belt

Yeah, but you still need to eat and workout for the gear to work.
