    Costco vs. Walmart

I have been buying groceries at Walmart since I was a college student because they were always the cheapest for me. We recently moved and I live right in between a Costco and a Walmart.

Is it worth it to get a membership to Costco or do you really even save that much in the long run?

I get 95% of my food from Costco. Chicken, rice, veg. I stock up once a month. To me it's completely worth the $50 for the year. YMMV

Costco is way better for meat and for large quantities of anything, walmart has its place, but yes it is worth getting a membership.

The overall quality of what you get from Costco is generally higher than most other places, including walmart. i get the executive membership ($100) and due to ttheir cash back program, get a check for more than what I paid for membership at the end of the year.

I will say that Costco's meat is expensive right at the moment, so i've been going to Savemart for meat purchases. I think Tri-Tip is on sale for $3.99/lb, but at Costco, it's $6.99/lb. the costco tritip is a better quality, but not $3/lb better!!!

Another problem with Costco. Great deals, but everything you purchase (usually) is giant size. You don't buy a dozen eggs, you get two flats of eggs, that sort of thing. So space in the refer is real tight.

I thought walmart, Sam's club, and Costco were all owned by same company?

What about Costco vs Sam's Club?

I do most of my shopping at Walmart due to the prices but have a Sam's membership (was a gift from the gf's mom). Problem with Sam's, like TR said, is that everything is HUGE and our fridge is already always full. Never been to a Costco before.

Love sam's. I bought 12lbs of chicken breast on Sunday for 21 bucks. They have 10lb box of oats for like 9. I even get my whey there. 5lbs muscle tech for 35 and it has a nice macro profile.

I could see the space thing being an issue. Our refrigerator and freezer stay packed full as it is. Might have to get a deep freeze.

Yeah my chicken was 1.77/lb also got 5lbs ground turkey for like 12 bucks. It won't break the fridge room too bad. At least it doesn't for me. I buy it and cook it onthe same day and my veggie crisper has become my meat drawer I just bag it in ziplocks and pull it out as needed.

I prefer Sam's Club because we have been members there for years. We checked out Costco but they were not much cheaper on veggies and fruits and they did not sell the protien shakes Sexy likes so much.
