How do carbs not turn into fat ?

So bodybuilders need to eat a lot of carbs right ? So how doesn't all these carbs just turn into fat ? How does eating a lot of carbs help bulk in lean muscly body mass ?

(I know this sounds like a stupid question but I was just wondering)

No easy answers in life except on a fast food menu at Wendy's, just hard work and educating yourself is key to future success.

because its not a 2 word answer. You dont want to take time to read the section that has the answer already, but expect someone else to spend 10mins typing it out for you.

    To put it really simply....

    Carbs are coverted to glucose.

    Glucose is used for energy.

So a body builder that is lifting hard and heavy and gaining muscle mass...

    will need more carbs.

Those carbs get used to form new muscle and to supply energy to the body.

So the body needs more carbs to fuel all the new muscle its building and the extra work it takes to repair and build new muscle. Plus the intense training that is causing the new muscle.

    And so on.

    Basically.

Now if you dont want to get fat from carbs.

You need to figure out your macros and slowly adjust your macros as you slowly gain weight/mass.

Add in some carbs... fuel new muscle growth.
That new muscle needs more carbs to keep fueled and more than that in order to build even more muscle.
So you add in some more carbs.

    And so on.

Carbs is like engine fuel.. Get enough of it and you can lift and muscles recover and grow along with normal body functions..
Downfall is if you don't expend that fuel fast by exercising or labor intense work.. The carb energy gets stored in long term storage.. fat..

however... when carbs are broken down into sugars and are available in the blood stream, and the person consumes something that causes an insulin spike, all the sugars that are present in the blood stream are immedatly stored into fat cells, no matter the needs of the body or muscle..

thus eating desert is like refilling all the fat cells, and when those are all full, guess what the body produces?? yep, new fat cells..

    good times..
