Sister's going in for emergency surgery now.

My beautiful sweet sister is going in for surgery in a minute, she has dissected vertebral and carotid arteries and has been in the hospital for a couple weeks, they just now finally realized how bad it is and is going in for emergency surgery, i guess they are calling it fibromuscular dysplasia now. If anyone prays or can think about her, funny I think the more people that hope she's ok it will somehow help. She's only 33 and has 4 dissections, possibly caused by chiropractor. They are putting a stent in the left carotid artery now. I hope she has decent doctors, really worried because for two weeks they haven't been able to do anything for her other than keep her in the icu and should have figured this out much earlier. Thanks everyone, I just really don't want her to pass away. She has yet to experience a lot of things in life that she has wanted. That and I haven't been close to her at all, and live in another state besides, I was a dick to her in our teenage years. I've wished we could do more family things and get together more over the years.

good news so far, stent was placed and she is doing much better than she has been the past two weeks, at least so far, brain is finally getting proper blood flow. So lets hope everything keeps going well.

Thanks I found out about the FMD today and hadn't looked it up yet. The doctors had been saying the chiro thing prior to today however. I looked that up and 1 in 20k neck adjustments result in stroke, so fairly rare but happens more than one would think. With it being an autosomal dominant genetic disorder, should I be doing anything to get myself checked out?

Going good so far, although they had a little scare and did another MRI on her aorta, were checking her out for pneumonia when they noticed something odd possibly on the aorta, so did an MRI, I guess radiologist says it's looking ok, so lets hope its right.
