What do you all do when you get sick?
Just wondering, you still try to hi the gym? What IX the quickest way to cure a nasty sinus infection and cold?
I never used to get sick, but I was never around sick people either. Now being with my gf and having a son I have a shit ton of sickly people around me at random times.
One thing I do know is that this sucks ass and I'm missing gym time

Drink a shit ton of water, make sure your taking your vit C, and when I was getting sinus infections I went and got saline nasal spray, but you might need to go see your doc depending how bad the infection is! You shouldn't be sick for more then a week or so, so I would just rest and hit the gym when your better, rest is key to recovery.

Cool, I am taking 3000 mg's of vitamin c right now. I figured working out is not the best idea while being sick though.

I always just take around 1.5g of vitamin c a day, along with b12 and drink plenty of water and try to maintain my diet. I almost never use antibiotics unless im bed ridden, I feel that if you dont use them then your body will build an immunity and you wont get sick near as often. I havent been sick in over a year.

I'm just now back after 2 weeks with a sinus infection. Get a good decongestant and get some rest.
A sinus infection is a bacterial infection caused when excess congestion creates the ideal breeding ground in your sinus cavity.
Mucinex works pretty good if you get the pseudo ephedrine version and. There is also a nasal mist with vicks that helps a lot, but if you can't shake it on your own a trip to the doc for some anti-biotics will have it gone really quick.

The best thing to do is to make yourself eat and get plenty of bed rest.

As soon as I even BEGIN to get symptoms of being sick (i.e. waking up in the morning with that familiar feeling of a sore throat beginning, etc.) I immediately take 1000mg of vitamin C every hour, on the hour. Most of the time, if I do this early enough at the first sign of any symptoms of infection, this will destroy the infection before it has a chance to develop into a full-blown cold. I have been doing this for about 4 or 5 years now and I have not had a full blown cold since, with the exception of one time where I was infected with a mutated super-bacteria that would have put anyone under. But for the common colds, this little protocol of mine works wonders, its incredible.
IF I do have a full-blown fever or cold, I will avoid the gym. You really don't want to be hitting the gym when you have a fever or some type of full-out infection that is really putting your body's systems under. You'll end up making your infection far worse. Weight training has an immediate negative effect on your immune system (in the long term, it does strengthen your immune system) but as such, you are compromising your body's defenses. When you end up with a full-blown cold, your body needs to shift its resources and efforts to fighting infection, and you'll end up diverting these efforts to elsewhere if you keep hitting the gym, thereby giving the infection an upper hand and making the infection worse. Lay off from the gym if you are really sick.
Of course, I also try to maintain a high level of water intake, and IF you can you need to keep up caloric intake. Nutrients are something your body really needs to fight infections, and when you're sick you need to keep the feeding your body. Unless you're so sick that your body is rejecting all food and making you throw everything up, keep up the food intake.
After that, of course, is sleep as much as you can. Sleep like a bear in winter so that your body can focus all of its efforts on eliminating infection.

Depends how bad it is, and how long. I usually train anyways. If it lasts more than a week i will make sure to get some lifting sessions in, and if I train while sick I make sure I only do it every other day max, sometimes less if I'm really sick. Of course i don't train around other people but that's another thing to worry about is spreading it.

5,000mg Vit C when I wake up and 1,000mg every hour after and I almost always kick the funk before it gets bad.

I drink a ton of water and rest when I can if it is bad. Last week I had something awful and was sleeping 20 hours a day. I could not keep myself awake at all no matter what I did.

I don't think I'll be going to the gym for a bit
I have a real bad infection. They gave me a antibiotic pack and some syrup + some nasal steroid shit. They said I better take it unless I want to try to fight of pneumonia. Fvck. . . . . Wonderful timing, my clutch blew out and I had to Buck my way home from my first day of class. Oh yeah, and I am suspecting some funky shit with my Gf.
Fvck this, I'm going to bed for the next 10 hours.

I rarely get sick and if I do it just be a runny nose or 5 day cold, but I just wait it out. I'm not a big medicine fan
