Oh f*^!k me. . . . . .
Went in for blood work last week. The Doc didn't want to do a hormonal count and gave me a juice speech after seeing me. But, gave me 3 other tests. I can't really tell exactly what the third one is, but the two are: lipid count and thyroid.
Just got a call back. They will not give me results over the phone and I have to come back in to speak with the Doc.
Oh fvck me. . . . .
I doubt my cholesterol is still high, my Bp was perfect @ 124/7x. . . .
I haven't had a STD test for a bit either. . . . Oh damn it, this just can't be good. I doubt it is to let me know how good my #'s were. Now i have a week to go crazy thinking WTF it is. . . .

I have been told the exact same thing only to go in and be told everything if fine. I think they don't give out test results over the phone because of privacy laws - they have no idea if the person they are talking to on the phone is the patient. Plus, they probably also like to bill that co-pay and insurance for a doctor's visit.
Hopefully everything is fine. Fingers crossed.

What did the 3rd test say? I mean, you said you didnt understand what it was for, but did you read what it said?

Most likely the third test was CBC or CMP. Could be your hemoglobin or RBCs are undesirably high. Are you running orals at all?

Don't worry bro, if something was dangerously out of whack you would've been instructed to come in right away, privacy laws is all it's about.

I thought on most blood tests you need to tell them to test for stds
They always ask me if I want to test for hiv and stds also

No orals. Just greasy burgers.
Unless its something bad the only other thing I can think of it being is my cholesterol being way insane.

These are all standard and what most GP's will run in any run of the mill physical. The comprehensive metabolic panel is a blood test that measures your sugar (glucose) level, electrolyte and fluid balance, kidney function, and liver function.
The Thyroid has at least 8 to 10 different assays that can be performed to make an assessment of its health; TSH (Thyroid Stimulating Hormone) is but just one and not one to tell you much detail to be honest. TSH allows the Doc to see how your Thyroid is performing from the 30,000 foot level. Anything 2 and under is fine. Anything 2 to 3 means the Thyroid is a bit underperforming and you want to keep an eye on it when you do future BW. Anything over 3 suggests Hypothyroidism and further testing should be done.
If you're concerned the Doc may discover something about your steriod use, it probably won't show up here in any of these assays. There are other hormonal panels that can give that away real fast.
You're fine, go in and hear the Doc tell you that you are healthy!Last edited by steroid.com 1; 10-04-2012 at 09:54 PM.

You're going to go in and the doc is going to tell you to exercise more. When I first went in to my very first doctor that's the bs I got from him, funny thing is he didn't ask my a lick of details about myself, gave me that blanket response. I was already exercising intensely 6 days a week, intense lifting and cardio and activities, was already overkill.

This is it! If it was bad you'd have been called in ASAP! Just another appt w/ results, doc probably researched your tests (or will) really good to ensure your ok so if you do have issues he isn't the one liable for screwing up.
He may just want to elaborate a bit more with the numbers too. Relax! Don't let this worry you. I've never been given results over the phone...

This.
Phone calls are free. Office visits are ~$100. You do the math.

Doc is trying to make some money bro. Our medical system blows.

The results are in. . . .
The LDL(I think) is borderline high at 160
Also my thyroid stimulating hormone is one point over the regular limit. Yet the thyroid levels are dead in the middle.
I got a hormonal panel out of the Doc. He was like, you want a hormonal panel huh? Fine
10-12 pounds left to drop and I'm running another solid cycle.
