My gym has banned deadlifts!!!
Just had to vent. My gym has been going downhill. A while back they "upgraded" their equipment, which was a huge downgrade. They got rid of squat rack, leg press, etc, and put in useless machines. Now they have a memo posted about stating that per their corp policy there is absolutely no deadlifting!!!! WTF, thats nuts, I get liability, insurance, etc, but its a gym, get signed waivers or something. I am going to just see if they turn a blind eye or call me out, but might have to move on, its getting ridiculous.

My gyms employees don't know their own rules, so they make up their own....
Saw an employee ask a guy to stop deadlifts because it was making noise when the weights hit the striker mat that was bought for just that....
Then one tell a guy to slam away....
I feel for you! Sounds like you've outgrown that gym!

Ask if they are going to ban obese people next as surely they dont want those heavy loafers hitting the deck, creating noise with every step.

You guys guessed it. Its Planet Fitness!! And yeah they do random pizza nights as well. Judgement free zone my ass, if you take training seriously they judge the hell out of you. It sucks because it is very convenient, its around the corner from my office and on the way home. They have a second location fairly close by that I tend to go to for leg day as they still have decent equip. Ive had a membership there for atleast 8 years. Im going to start looking around at my other options.

I think I can get out of contract as Ive been there forever, Ill check. It used to be a golds years ago and then changed to planet and I stayed there. Im member 344, been there from the start. I can get over the lunk alarm, etc, but now its negatively effecting my training so something has got to give. I will go in and do my deadlifts and see what happens. Most of the front desk guys lift and ive seen most of them deadlifting, so Im sure they do not want to enforce this rule either, we shall see.

I would have started looking a long time ago, pf isn't a real gym. I stopped using my rec centers weight room because they put up signs to not use chalk, I still used it for a while and used chalk anyways, but no one ever confronted me about it, but that was the extra nudge to get me to set up my garage gym with a real power rack.

If I pay dues at a gym and some turd tells me how to work out. He will have involuntary 25 pounds weight shucked at their nugget quite quickly.
Plant Fitnes < Curves bull shit. Why even be called a gym?
No judgement zone, listen damn it. I can call a fat ass a fat ass whenever I want. . . Why, because I work hard not to be one. But, that doesn't mean they can't workout right next to me. Feel free, who doesn't like free entertainment.

Yeah for sure. I got lucky and designed my rack and when I asked someone if they could build it, they told me to just come over and use their equipment and they would help me weld it up. Saved me probably 1k, but I still spent a large sum of money for a nice barbell and platform supplies, and plates. I want an olympic bar platform and bumpers, as well as some other things, but my garage is too small. I have an extra bar I might cut and weld into a safety squat bar, it's a completely piece of junk. Also I had just received a nice bonus and things were going well. Now I'm buried in medical, but should be sorted out by February. Hope you have plenty of room in that basement of yours, it really is nice. Only thing I would like is a dedicated training partner or two to share it with, that has similar goals as me.

I lift at a fitness first and they do not have any platform in the deadlift area, this is usually not a big deal as most the members at least try to use some small amount of common sense when just doing reps and we really don't have any members who I have seen pulling any serious wieght were they need to drop it for safety. However from time to time you get these morons doing dead reps with light wieghts like 150-200lbs and bouncing the bar off the carpet with every rep....I can only imagine the slab underneath, they are going to be in for a hell of a bill when they vacate LOL. We also have one of the racks where you can set a support bar on each side at different hiegths to limit the travel of the wieghtbar when squatting or doing shrugs etc. there are a couple of assholes who insist on dropping the bar, that is letting it freefall from 6 inchs above them onto the support bars....Its really hard not to say something but I have waaay to short a fuse to politely mention it and have one of them say don't worry about it asshole...I just can't stand jail food anymore.
I just never understood why people think that dropping wieghts and making a big noise means you are a big guy or some shit, same deal with the seated lat pulls we got guys who load up some spindly ass wieght like 100lbs and on their last rep let go of the handle and let the plates drop the last foot onto the stack. I usually just ask if I can work in. Then add another 100 lbs do 10 reps and then set the stack calmly back down after my set.
