Alright, FACTS:

- He's in my top 5 friends.
- He was with her for 2 years.
- They broke up 2 years ago.
- He's been with a new girl for 2 years now.

- Pretty sure she broke it off after him getting caught cheating on her multiple times.
- I've known her for longer than I've known him.
- She's hot as shit and I've been wanting to **** her since before I even knew him.
- She hates him.
- He hinted at sleeping with one of my exes years ago but this is not confirmed.

Options:

- Sleep with her, don't tell.
- Ask for his blessing before going ahead.
- Sleep with her, then ask for forgiveness cause it's easier than asking for permission.

Happened to me in high school. My best friend at the time broke up with his girl. A month later, she was giving me "the look" and then her friends approached me and said she liked me (high school silliness). I told my buddy about it and asked him if it would be weird for him if I dated her. He said he was cool with it if it wasn't weird for me or her. I dated her for about a year without problems.

I'm with Marcus. Plenty of fish and many hot ones. Not worth burning bridges. Be honest with your friend IMO. If he's cool with it, he'll appreciate you more for being honest and putting your friendship ahead of what might be nothing more than one good night (or a disappointment!)

I did it once in college 4 months after one of my best friends broke up with his GF of 2 years (we were just hanging out and drinking, she came onto me and the rest was an awesome blur) . We kept it a secret from him for nearly 2 years and it tore me up inside. But when I finally told him, he didn't care too much. But if you're having to ask before the fact (planning it), don't do it.

for me, there was always some kind of residual feelings post relationship. But I'm a softie, and maybe Song isn't that way.

At a minimum, I would have OP at least talk to his best friend and explain what his intentions are. It isnt' the act of sleeping with his ex, it's the lying and covering up that will ruin the BF relationship.
