    Obsessed/mesmerized by Arnold

i am so curious about arnold and his aas usage. He juiced at 13, according to his book, definitely by 16-17. He still grew to be 6'2. Amazing. Ive never seen any stretch marks on him, except slightly in a few pics. He ate dbol a ton and an article I read said they didn't use anit-e's, how did he not get bad gyno? He confessed, or his trainer said in an article, he did Primobolan "the champagne of steroids ." He started using so early... So he must of been on trt by what, age 22? Nevertheless, i find his story incredible. Pics of him so young are astounding... Anyone got any insider info on him?

Not everyone is prone to estrogenic sides. I personally could never use an AI again and would experience zero nipple sensitivity.

Pros are not usually open about their use. Something to consider is that even using the same exact dosing protocol doesnt mean one will look exactly the same

One of the things that made a bodybuilder great back then was the ability to tolerate the drugs under those primitive conditions without a lot of sides.

I am nearly finished reading Arnold's biography 'Total Recall'. Oddly enough, I never really was big into Arnold and the lore until a few years ago. Anyways, to the point, since reading the book I delved deeper into the "Arnold Subject" if you will and can maybe shed some light on your curiosity. Arnold will not flat out admit to exactly what he used, only that he did use steroids . Now, many other of Arnold's associates during the Golden Era in Venice have opened up on the subject.

Back then (70s) they main AAS available were: testosterone , dianabol , deca , winstrol , primobolan , and anavar . They also occasionally mention the use of T3 amongst other things for use before a contest. Supposedly none of them used extreme doses, hell Ric Drasin claimed that they would just take a ml of this or that and that hard work put in is what produced the bodies. Ric also stated that a few of them would bridge but for the most part back then you would come off at least once during the year for a period of time to let your body take a break. Ric also said that everyone used testosterone as a base and then your preference of whatever secondary anabolic .

As for AIs, have you seen pictures of Arnold is the late sixties and early seventies? He's ****ing huge and sometimes bloated. I believe that Arnold started early but from my research it does not see that they stayed on constantly, cruising in between cycles like today. I am not saying they did not stay on for the most part of the year, you get the point.

What I find harder to believe than the drugs is that Arnold claims he worked out 5 hours a day, six days a week, fully body 3X a week while doing construction, going to school, and acting classes. Who knows though, Arnold had a great genetic base.

I think there is a lot of legend building going on when these old-timers talk about their youth.

Arnie's aas use is best left to speculation imo. If it were ever written in stone exactly what he used, every tom dick and harry would try it thinking they would get his results when for all but less than 1% its not possible.

As cherrydrpepper said, I can only speculate. He did say in an interview(I can post the link) that he used DBol . He said they were legal and they popped them before workouts. My guess is that they didnt use as much as the guys do now. The guys nowadays are freaks. They look nothing like the golden age and are not remotely symetrical. Sergio Nubret was one of the greatest built guys i have ever seen. I just dont know what has changed from then to now other than massive doses. Arnolds genes had to be amazing. I am sure he would have been large even without AAS, but of course they made him famous. I never saw him bloated, as one guy said. He always looked dry to me. His muscles were always "full" during competition, but I never saw bloat. He could have used Primo, Winstrol , or Anavar (if it was around then, as was mentioned) as we would use an AI. I dont know. Speculation. All I know is, those guys looked so much better than the freaks of today. I dont know why anyone would want to look like that. Also, insulin was around then. I am uncertain as to how often it was used by BBs in that time though. Great topic of discussion.

Yeah honestly I would not want to look like a lot of the top 5 Mr O's placers today.

Lee Priest is one of the people in the mordern era I would love to look like. He is only 5'4" and competed at 205 lbs. I think he is a good example of aesthetics and size. Competitors today are so obsessed with size.

Only thing about Priest is that he lets himself go in the offseason. I would love to know what he does to get in that shape before season. I am guessing enough AAS to kill a chinese army. He does look amazing though.

If it were not for the drugs that were not available to the older generation (i.e. HGH, IGF, Slin, etc), the bodybuilders of today would look great. I just hate how it has become strictly a game of mass. Huge distended guts and that whole look doesnt do it for me. I like the old look

Another thing, don't believe everything you read. As the saying goes believe nothing you read and only 50% of what you see.

I think he said a lot of things just to get a rise out of people and to sell books. Ive seen videos where he said he doesnt diet, drinks beer all the time and always smokes cigars. I dont think that stuff is true and he was a lot more dedicated than he leads on and just wanted to make it look like he was that much better than everyone else.

I agree. I still respect the old-school guys for all the work they put into their bodies though.

I was looking for pics of young Arnold earlier this morning and found a few but none of the ones that I was looking for. I may post a few up later where Arnold looks soft and big, when I say bloated I mean not as defined, he still looked better than 95% of people.

The major change in BBing that led to massive physiques from what I understand is the use of peptides, test+gh, slin, igf, etc...

Drasin said that Arnold really loved Primo. Most common AAS were around back then. I believe Drasin stated that test, deca , dbol , winstrol were easy to get and that anavar and primo not as much.

In his book he touches on this. He said that everyone views him as a walking contradiction, a Republican that likes Democrats, a cigar lover who works out, a environmentalist who drives a Hummer, a guy who loves schnapps that tells you to watch your diet. His answer is basically that he enjoys life and experiencing things and tries to take away things from all aspects of life.
