Thanksgiving: Yay!!! :)
im bored and it occurred to me that its a little early which is good cuz i get to be the first one to post a thread about thanksgiving so i figd i would.
what are yall gonna do? go visit family? have it at home? go out to eat?
whats ur favorite thanksgiving foods??
does anyone have a special recipe that u only really get to eat around the holiday times and if so what is it and would u mind sharing potential recipe ideas??
plus i never get to start new threads and this is my excuse to get to
personally we have a great restaurant that we went to last year which has an awesome thanksgiving feast! they have a shrimp and crab au gratin and oyster dressing! and they have a huge set-up for desserts (of which i ate like 6 last year) plus they have prime rib, roast beef, and the traditional thanksgiving turkey and stuff. i made my reservations today. i cant wait!
also has anyone figured out how theyre gonna deal with the massive caloric surplus and/or are u not too concerned about it??
i think i had another question but i forgot

hey 405 bee awhile how ya been.
well for thanksgiving my main plan is football. my cousin is having dinner but i am commited to new diet and i only allow one "cheat" meal on saturday. I will however have a small portion of trukey actually i will weight no more than 8oz. plus my mom makes yams every year and she is making me a small portion with out all the garbage on it.
I am fortunate to be married to a Canadian so i get two thanksgivings a year and to keep it short i ate enough and Canada thanksgiving to cover both Holidays.
I will however miss my sisters Oreo Cookie Pie, with Ice Cream
Enjoy your holiday my friend

I'm going to have dinner at the folks house. Bringing the girlfriend along, too. I expect it'll be my parents, my aunt, a few of their friends, and us.
I don't count macros on holidays. I fully intend to eat a huge quantity of food and then top it off with half of a pumpkin pie with extra whipped cream!

potato filling is an alternative to bread stuffing and everyone that has tried it, asks for the recipe! Enjoy!!!
brown slices of whole wheat or multigram bread with butter/ cut into 1 in squares /set aside
sautee yellow onion and celery in butter and add parsley, pepper
make a stiffer mashed potato with butter and milk. want mashed potato stiff cuz juice from the turkey bakes into it, thinning it out
mix the sauteed stuff and fold in bread, stuff turkey. plug the openings with an extra bread and some aluminum foil and sew up tight.
DO NOT OVER STUFF cuz it will cook out! serve with gravy!
Any extra can be warmed in oven and served with some pads of butter, so i always make more then the turkey requires. my guests rather eat this then the mashed potatoes more often then not.
i easily peel 10 lbs or more potatoes depending on the crowd so i just adjust the amount of onion/celery and bread accordingly. i think i do about 8 pieces of bread but bread is not the main ingredient

Bay View French Toast
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup margarine
2 T water
1 29 oz. can sliced peaches
5 eggs
1 1/2 cup milk
1 T vanilla
1 loaf French bread
cinnamon
Drain peaches of excess syrup (blot on paper towel). Set aside juice. In saucepan, melt brown sugar in butter on medium low heat until melted. Add water and continue cooking until thick and foamy. Pour into 9 x 13 dish. Let cool for 10 minutes; thickens as it cools. Place peaches on top of cooled sugar mixture and cover with slices of bread, 3/4 inch thick, placed close together. Tuck in slices of bread where there are spaces.
Beat eggs, milk and vanilla. Pour over bread. Cover and refrigerate over night. Sprinkle with cinnamon. Bake 350 for 40 minutes; last 10-15 minutes cover with foil. Serve with remaining warmed peach syrup and warm maple syrup. VARIATION: cooked fresh sliced Granny Smiths or Jonathan and place on brown sugar mixture - EXCELLENT!

I have went tomy grandmothers and great grandmothers house(they live together) every year of my life. This may very well be the last one with my great granny, so it will be special. I hope I am wrong. But I like dressing, chicken and dumplings, ham, green beans and creamed corn. May favorite is the SWEET TEA! I am not a fan of turkey, unless fried or smoked, as I find it way too dry. I do like the drumsticks ok though becasue they are a bit more juicy.

I wonder if 405 uses food coloring to mark every slice of turkey with macro-nutrients.
