I shall not stop lifting and pushing my body to its limits, when I hear the rattle of the plates when I pick them up makes me feel so at home. When I first start lifting and feel how heavy the weight is and I am repping I think this is easy, this is going to be a good workout, this is going to push me to my limits, this workout I wont waste. When the pain starts to leak into my body that's when the mental state of mind comes into play, how much pain can you take, how much of your inner self shouting at you to stop can you take. This is what separates us from the normal..............we are not normal we a giants walking this earth

Actually a perfect day! Warmed up on extensions then all straight sets today:
Extensions: 2 heavy
Verticals: 2 heavy. Need to move up a bit in weight but racking and unracking it can be brutal. Slow and intense and knee felt good.
Squats: Got to my weight where I do a few reps then decide if moving up in weight or just repping out. It felt light, real light. Added 90 and cranked out 6 solid reps. About a minute later dropped the 90 and cranked out a slow 10 reps.
Dumbell lunges: 1 set to failure
Seated hams: 2 heavy to failure
Calves: Usual calf crap.
VERY motiovated today and I'll pay for it the next few days. Awesome day. Funny thing this mental state of ours. When under all the weight of squats I'll occasionally groan, etc. Today and like many other leg days in my life it was more of a laugh after the reps. Not even close to a groan. Just so mentally pumped I guess. Know what I mean?Last edited by kelkel; 07-02-2014 at 02:26 PM.

I love it when this happens. Its like all the planets aligned just at the right moment.
It happened to me not that long ago. I'd been nursing (still kind of am) a lower back strain. Started slowly incorporating back squats again. Several leg days in and I'm able to do 225 for 10, but shaky, struggling even.
A few leg days later, I have 315 on there and its like I'm doing them on a smith machine. I'm moving strong. Not even remotely in trouble in the hole. Below parallel and my hamstrings are firing, pulsating at preventing the weight from going too low and then popping back up.
Nothing like those days when 135 feels like 315.

Today I had my first leg workout wearing knee sleeves, Holy sh1t why haven't I been using these all along??
On my way to the gym I dropped my truck off to get detailed about 3/4 a mile from the gym.
I thought the walk would be a perfect warmup! It was a great warmup, but unfortunately I was not thinking far enough ahead...this would later haunt me.
I get to the gym, slip the knee sleeves on and decided I would start with squats.
bang out a light - ass to grass warmup set of 20 reps, knees feel great.
Feel set, working 12, 8
BB Hip Thrusts - Feel, feel, working 12, 8 (new PR for 8)
Hammies and glutes were screaming at this point.
Leg press - Feel, feel, feel, Working 10, 6 (PR on this gym's machine)
Leg curls - Feel, Working + Double Drop
Leg extension - Feel, Working + Double Drop
Finished up with some weighted calf raises, 2 working sets to complete failure.
Truck should be done now and get some grub.
Walking funny and walking slow, I get there truck isn't ready and wont be for another hour, gotta walk another 1/2 mile 1 way to get food.
I don't do cardio on leg day for a reason, legs don't work after leg day! All that walking was torture.
Legs are HOSED!
The sleeves are great! They gave me great support and a new confidence in moving up in weight.
Highly recommended if you don't have them yet.

Wow! Glad to hear everyone is kicking @ss. Now I'm all revved up after reading your posts and feel like holding off on the pullback.
Was supposed to be off for 4 days, somehow work trimmed it down to 2 days. The plan is to get in some lifting, spend a little time with the wife and the beasts, and catch up on some stuff @ the house. There are 3 loves in my life: my wife, my English mastiffs, and my weightlifting....Man, my wife gets really pissed when I get the 3 confused...

Back session was brutal yesterday. Wound myself up by listening to some real hardcore. When I made it to the gym I was so pumped I had chills. Got started and just smashed it
Cable rows
T bar rows
Bent over bb rows
Wide grip pulldowns
V handle pull downs
Hyper extensions
All slow and held each contraction a bit before a slow negative.

Regarding the sleeves, Dorian said that going up on the weights when using them doesn't make you stronger. Its just the extra support provided by sleeves, so its actually the sleeves, not you. They might be good to keep the area warm, the joints, but as far as going up on the weights, i'd rather not use them and have my muscles do the work.
Of course if you are injured or whatever, they will prove useful i guess. I only used them when i kind of grinded my knees outside of the gym, so i could recuperate while still training gradually working my way up. But once my knees were ok, i took the sleeves out even though i felt more comfortable with them. Now i'm pushing legs with more weight than even when i was using them, so basically my only support is using straps when going heavy on back, i don't even use a belt and i've been just fine with being just a little bit more careful and warming up properly.

They're building/ have built one here in SC...roughly 4 hrs. away. I believe it is a 1.25 million square feet facility. Ridiculously large. Whoever coordinates all of their purchasing/shipping is either a genius or a madman.
Sorry about my sidetrack. Back to the thread. I'm still trying to decide between the Rehband knee sleeves and the NeoG knee supports. Both seem to get great reviews. Maybe I'll let the wife flip a coin to decide so I can blame it on her. However, I don't think I'll be disappointed w/either one.
Have slept great the last 2 days off of work. 1 more lift sometime.today then the pullback. I had planned to get more stuff done around the house/ lifting but the Mrs. has been on my case to take.advantage of the time off. Back to work tonight. There are 3 loves in my life: my wife, my English mastiffs, and my weightlifting....Man, my wife gets really pissed when I get the 3 confused...

We're talking simple neoprene pull ups here to effectively keep the area heated up, not knee wraps. Actual support is minimal and not robbing you of anything. I look at them as a way to help my longevity in this sport. Hell, look at the pro's in their training video's as half of them all wear something similar.

OK, I went with a pr. of the Rehband 7051 knee sleeves. If I don't like them, I'll go with the NeoG open patella supports next time.

This couldn't be more true.
It's especially funny to me because I have gone from one extreme to the other in this area.
I used to be morbidly obese or real damn close, and when I first got into shape I still saw a fat person when I looked in the mirror.
It flipped in an instant one day.
Saw a skinny person walking really close behind me when I was walking out of a store in the glass.
I thought there was anyway but realized that it was ME.
What a trip, forever too small from that day forward.
Fvck skinny, get BIG!

Had a bad run at life lately. Took over a week off of the iron and diet. Haven't lost any weight and composition looks a little better actually.
Getting back out there this week. Realtor will be by this week with a sign for the front yard.. Guess I'll be able to join a commercial gym once I move. Ugh

I should be able to able to finally get my lift in tomorrow. The last day before the holiday and last night have been pretty rough @ work. Been busy crawling over, through, and around machinery drilling and reaming taper pin holes by hand; now I seem to have something going on w/ my right elbow. Thinking it is tendonitis @ the point where the triceps ties in @ my elbow.
I'm doing the DMSO/aloe gel and attempting to "floss" it w/a compression wrap right now. Hope it will improve as the night progresses.
Edit: I tried rolling my elbow on one of the "young 'uns" Kong toys. Believe it is helping somewhat. If it isn't better in the morning then I'll work legs.Last edited by almostgone; 07-06-2014 at 10:36 PM.

First day back and it was good, got some decent weight pushed and really went to failure. Still not going beyond failure yet just keeping it tidy for another week while I finish some ink off then I should be good to go.
shoulder.traps
2 working sets to failure on everything, basis power movements took me 40 mins to complete

Ok guys just did chest had a good warm up and i did pre ex with cable flys. I really like this it gives me a very good stretch and gets the blood in to the chest ready for the working weight. Great tip from the big guy.
Incline db press
Incline flys
Flat db press
Flat flys
The two set's of flys were right down to half rep then some forced reps. Got a good burn going on the now and it's been about a hour ago i did chest good stuff.
