Man, really slept today. Could tell yesterday's back session was starting to take ahold of me, so I took a relaxer this morning with a few Benadryl as a kicker. Rested well and looking forward to hitting chest tomorrow.

Off day for me, good thing too. I played our first beach volleyball game last night and my knee was on fire all night, couldn't sleep without being woken with shooting pain. Time to get this checked out, it is getting worse, funny thing is, it barely bothered me in California, the humidity here tears me up. The wife has the same issue with her ankle, one more check in the "moving back to Cali" column. Shoulders and arms tomorrow, hope my chest and back feel better than they do today, tore them up good this week.

Just wanted.to add that I'm really liking the hyperextensions. They are kind of like crunches for the lower back. Can tell it is strengthening the lower back and glutes to a lesser extent.

I agree AG, I try and do them on back days, I will use weight if my back isn't too sore. Too much weigjt and it messes with my bad knee, so I have to find the balance. With a little mind muscle connection you can place more emphasis on glutes and hams or keep it in the low back.

Woke up this morning and my legs hurt like hell lol.

Today is delts and traps. My favorite day :-)

Yesterday a woman that works with my fiancé asked her if I was putting size on. She says yes and then another woman says "He's taking testosterone like my brother. Can't fool me.... My brothers a juice head"

My fiancé tried to recover but her attempts were futile hahaha

I take it as a compliment, even if it wasn't intended that way. Lets me know what I am doing is working. Plus when you look at the ones making the snide remarks, they typically look like shite and could use a little of our dedication.

I always say that I am taking a pre workout drink with test booster and creatine.

    Legs today -

Question - Workout I am following has a working set on hack squat. My gym doesn't have that machine. What exactly is the difference between hack squat and leg press. I know the difference but they seem to work the muscles exactly the same. I was hoping I could do a narrow stance on leg press and then follow it up with a wide stance. Yates's program calls for leg press followed by Hack Squats.

Hacks seem to hit more toward the outside of my quads and I feel it in my biceps femoris also. Leg presses pretty much hits all of the quad, but you can focus more on certain areas by playing with your foot positoning, IMHO.

Just got back from leg workout. Apparently my small town gym is inadequate. Leg Press (no hack squat machine) I ended up doing full stack on machine using rest pause to get totally fatigued. It was a shit ton of reps, near 40.

This is the only machine that seems it has no potential for me to advance in weight. The question is, should I just do my leg presses at the end of my leg workout instead of beginning. Here's my workout.

Leg Extensions - 2 warmup sets, 1 working
    Leg Press - 2 warmups, 1 working
Hack Squat (no hack squat so i am changing my footing some on leg press) 2 warmups - 1 working I did all full stack, last one rest pause
    Hamstring Curl - 1 warmup, 1 working
Stiff Legged Deadlift - 1 warmup, 1 working
Calf raise (on leg press) - 1 warmup, 1 working
Standing Calf Raise - 1 warmup, 1 working

What exactly is pre exhausting the muscle? Would this benefit me in the leg press?

Yeah just throw leg press at the very end. If you're still able to do the full stack the same way, you're not hitting the rest of your lifts hard enough.

I may have missed it, is there a reason you're avoiding squats?

I know you want to follow the exact program, but all of us make tweaks and adjustments as we go along. If you have training to drop dead failure down pat, pick another exercise. Does your place have a V squat machine? I've never used one but it may be a decent substitute.
My leg press here at home is an angled machine and I use it for leg presses, hacks, reverse hacks, and calves. Just have to change the location of the padding and take off the foot plate used for pressing.
Throw in a different type of squat if necessary....say Zerchers if nothing else. It's a semi decent power movement if you get it right.

I'm sure the others will have more suggestions.

Good point, hawk. I periodically rearrange my order of lifts to put my stronger lifts at the end. Helps keep the poundage down a tad and allows me to focus on the weaker ones while I am still fresh.

No reason in particular that I'm avoiding squats. Main thing is they don't have a squat rack. I have one in garage but I don't have all the other stuff

I am just following the Yates workout since HIT is brand new to me. I may just have to make some adjustments. The only thing the gym really has for squats is a smith and they always make my back hurt.

I will find one way or another to beat the hell out of my muscles. Maybe I can loan him my squat rack if he lets me have free membership.

Is the Smythe machine a dedicated machine or does it have spotter arms on the front. If so, use them as your safeties.
I would still look up Zerchers. You may find the movement handy at some point.

Yes sir, I throw them in after low pulley row right before deads. Still unweighted hypers for now, but I'm about to the point that it is time to add some. Very slowly of course.

    One way to find out.

TRT is phenomenal when needed. You don't realize how much it sucks to have low T (cause we adapt to it) until you restore it. Hell, I was at a 59 T level years ago and thought I was doing ok! WTF.

How old are you RC? Regardless, it's always a great idea to establish baselines. Use the list in the Finding A Doc sticky.
