Quads on fire is a good thing isn't it. Hell, extensions will light me up but I'm not stopping with them! Fatigue can bring that feeling upon you quicker, yes. If there was not pain and you felt otherwise rested, push through it.
I wouldn't extend the rest periods. Just make sure you get enough good quality nutrition coupled with rest. It's usually those two items really, nutrition and rest can save your day.Last edited by kelkel; 05-28-2013 at 06:53 AM.

My first meal is generally around 40g pro 60g carbs same as the second and depending where I'm at with my carb cycling will determine the rest. I train between meal 1 and 2
Yea I normally go to failure. (When it is a struggle to sit down let alone standing up!) sometimes it gets pretty bad because I'm on them all day.
Maybe today it was just all in my head. Man up and grow some bigger balls for next week I say? If it happens again I need to have a serious look into my diet. Just never happened before so thought I would put the question out. Push through it or recover more..
Thanks for the help so far

Kel. Your legs are awesome. My legs are not big enough (only 23") and lag of inner thigh. Wish one day I can have one just like yours.

Marcus I know you love HIT training but for someone with a few years experience would you recommend 5 x 5 to put mass on? What are your thoughts and experiences? Cheers bud

I cant wait to start this in July! I have been throwing in a little here and there lately. Helping MrsCanesfan get ready for show is killing me! I have lost a ton of bf but I dont like how much my legs have shrunk. Went from 27.5" to 25" in just a few weeks it seems like. I attribute this to the f**king 720 lunges her trainer has her doing. I will say this is the best Bf/ weight ratio I have ever been by far! 24/7 feeding is just around the corner, just hope I dont put sooo much BF on this year. BTW Kel those legs are CRAZY looking!

Legs today:
Squats: Multiple warm up's to get to the days working weight. One set ended up at 16 reps today. Dropped 90 and got another 10 slow reps. Have to drop the weight myself so it's kinda a combo drop/rest-pause but it works regardless.
Vertical presses: One feel set of 5-6 reps just to make sure all is well. Two working sets, one minute rest. Rest pause on last set. Killer pump.
Extensions: Three straight sets, max reps, 30-45 sec rest.
Seated leg curls: No warm up. Two sets, max reps with double drop on last.
Calves: Vertical presses. Two sets with rest-pause on last.
Seated: One feel set as I cramp on these (PMS.) Two working sets, minimal rest.
**Almost skipped today as my hip flexor has been hurting a bit but I decided to push through it. Glad I did.
Done!

With the amount of intensity I put into my workouts its not for the novice more the advanced BB'er but there are many different ways to implement HIT at any level. Why don't you try 5x5 for 2-3 months and log your progress and see what you have achieved with it, if its not doing what you want it to do try something different.
For me HIT builds, maintains and reduces bf like no other programme ive tried. I do train very intensely but that's how I maintain and build new tissue with continuous over loading the muscles and increasing the intensity, I know my body and I know what I am capable of doing

Well just in the door. Did Squatting first tonnight was good upped the weight by a good bit. Then onto leg press, did a PB for HIT 350kg which is overloading the press lol but it held up thankfully. Then isolation and lunges was immense was so fooked only did a bit of arms was destroyed got up from the leg press at one stage and just wobbled to the shoulder press machine had to sit down.
